Prescription drugs abroad

I intend to cross the Atlantic later this year. My doctor tells me that the NHS is allowed prescribe 3 months supply only, for travel abroad. He offered to give me a private prescription so that I could puchase enough to last me for one year. Would it be cheaper to buy the here, or cheaper to buy in the Canaries and Carribean? Would I need to find a doctor there to prescribe, or can they be bought over the counter? The drugs are needed to control my blood pressure, namely Enalapril Maleate and Bendrofluazide

In Latin countries you get most of this essential stuff over the counter,
(I have a heart problem)
and cheaper as well - including antibiotics.
They do have different brandnames,
so you have to read up on the ingredients.

Always check the expiration dates,
beware of unsealed packages.
