Prescription drugs abroad

I intend to cross the Atlantic later this year. My Doctor tells me that the NHS is allowed to prescribe 3 months supply only, for travel abroad. He offered to give me a private prescription so that I could buy enough to last me for a year. Would it be worth it to buy the drugs here, or would the drugs be cheaper in the Canaries and Carribean? Would I need to find a doctor there to prescribe them, or can they be bought over the counter? The drugs are needed to control my blood pressure, namely Enalapril Maleate and Bendrofluazide.

if you are coming to spain you will generally find drugs are a lot cheaper and very rarely do you need to have a prescription for anything. Just bring the repeat prescription. don't know about carib but imagine expensive

The canaries was the best we found we could get most things including antibiotics with prices well below nhs rates for some drugs. in the caribbean it varied enormously, french islands were reasonably cooperative but dutch ones not at all. i would recommend you stock up before the crossing.

hi
Latin American-Carribbean countries like Venezuela, Colombia, Panama,
Costa Rica
are great for buying almost any
medication without prescription.
the generic names
are very cheap.

I need nifedipin(adalat) and nitro
and get it cheaply anywhere.

You DO have to check the expiration date
and that the containers you buy are full.

Laboratorios Chile have a good name - you can get
their stuff in most Latin countries.
