Preparing for a Falmouth Adventure...but not beyond!

Jenneau 49. Lanzarote to Falmouth, dont think I'll be taking so many pictures....

Anyway, had a few hours to go over the boat this weekend, well found, coded, all in date.

Got lifted this morning for antifouling (and Im not doing it yay!!) plus cutlass bearing dodgy so getting a new one put in. Yup, not me again!

Two crew organised, experienced. Splash back Wednesday morning, diesel up plus final brief and off we go.

At this distance the forecast is... interesting so will head up towards Madeira for the first 24 hours. Owner requires yacht there sooner than later so diesel not an issue will have around six days worth. Mebbe pit stop in Bayona if necessary.

Victualling bit by bit so no last minute rush.

Comms with Iridium Go so Mrs S on the forecasting.

Yeah will not try too hard to get upwind til Thursday, ease em into it. Plotter one of those affected by GPS germ but got several handhelds and very good chart coverage. Actually will make a nice change from not getting screen google eyes!

Well we got to Falmouth in some quite reduced viz yesterday morning about ten.

Took seven days to Bayona going outboard of Madeira to get the best wind routing. Pit stopped for diesel and a tops run ashore in one of the nicest places in Europe!

Then headed for a bit in Biscay but the last thirty six ish hours run in with Spring tides, bashing the throttle and flat seas got us in surprisingly quickly.

Weird feeling though after a lot of overnight watch keeping and navigating in by pencil plotting on chart (plotter wrapped its hand in) to then get cleaned up, lift to Truro, train and bus for overnight at Bristol airport and back home in Lanza but half two this afternoon!

The lads are editing some piccies for me plus some great drone footage of sunset off the western side of Madiera and the yacht club Marina in Bayona. Don't ever miss Bayona..... Will post them sometime.

Tip for boat owners. Cable ties instead of jubilee clips on engine cooling hoses are not a good idea.

Tip for delivery skippers. Check every hose on the engine is secured by jubilee clips not cable ties. And be prepared for more unexpected fun if you discover the gearbox salt water cooling system has been installed by the artful bodger.

Tip in general, Jeanneau 49 yachts are great, fast and seaworthy. Yay.

Next job, teaching for a school in Ayamonte, Spain. No watches! Off on flight to Seville Friday evening, looks like it's gonna be Scorchio!
