Dear Members -

Your collective advice, opinions (despite occasional irrational prejudices), and humor have helped guide us in our challenging transition from long-term sailors to looking for a motorboat. We have much enjoyed visiting with brokers and owners and seeing different candidates, and now better appreciate that you are generally a friendly and welcoming lot despite the few asocial cretins who have powered by too close or through a race course, jostled us with a wake, or otherwise slighted us over the years. I am now ready to join the legion of cursed stinkpots.

Reflecting our growing exposure to different boats and a measure of marital compromise, our once-fluid shortlist is now down to a few candidates and next week we will visit one of the leading candidates in Lowestoft. We may need a surveyor in short order and welcome recommendations. It is a twin engine shaft drive polyester cruiser around 39 feet, and we expect a competitive price for the survey. Please feel free to send a PM, and no doubt we'll come back to you after the survey to further draw on your collective wisdom.

Best Regards,

Chris

No Ian is alive and well.

Very experienced guy, and a pleasure to deal with thouroughly reccommended, just used him.

Currently in Oulton Broad so very local too.

I will PM you details rather than post here.

Looking at a google search the company was liquidated.
Maybe you found something about a different company with a similar name? I am talking about Ian Lumley.
I can verify he is alive and well and still in business.

I just spoke with Ian and reports of his (or company's) demise are greatly exaggerated ;-). He's a good fit and many thanks again for the support from this forum. Regards, Chris

I can recommend East Anglia Yacht Surveys who did the report for the Nimbus we bought in Ipswich, prompt attention, very detailed well illustrated and presented report on paper and CD. There were photos of everything, amazed where he got his camera into, clear recommendations regarding urgency of issues. Not expensive either.
The surveyor, Dominic Buckley, posts on here regularly, www.eastangliayachtsurveys.co.uk
