Sailing, well here goes!!!! We decided to give it a go, and we dragged the Kidd's along too, I thought well Scotland, always windy, great scenery, mite be a bit wet but hay its August should not be that bad, [we lived up there for 20 odd years but east coast area]

But Boy was i wrong!!!!!!

It rained and rained, putting on wet wet weather gear in the morning was a new experience to us all, But I will say the rain was warm!!!
but there were times that were fun, Wizzing along at 7 knots, in a Force 6, standing on the front bow singing "singing in the rain" and my daughter very glad that there was no one around to hear me!!! Looking for Buoys in the mist and my daughter saying but I was too old to look for boys.

So here are some pic.

Now which one did steve say to untie and pull?????/forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Have come to the conclusion that mobo are more fun up to a F5.
and sail boats are fun F5 up wards to say a F7 or F8.

But do feel the need for some speed/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I know why that wall was built.

Only bin once.
Went to Kyle of Lochalsh, could not see a thing just got soaked and cold.
The one day we saw any sun got bitten to bits by mossies.
Eventually had to give in and eat local grub, got the runs big time so had to come back to civilisation.
give me any where due south anywhere anytime./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Surely in a raggie if the winds doing 25knots the sailing boat should be as well? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Pah! You're making excuses like a good raggie now! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I must be the exact opposite of everyone else on this forum - I've been much faster in a sailing boat than a motorboat! All my boating has been done on the Norfolk Broads so far so I've managed 7mph with an engine and 15knots on Barton Broad with my recently sold 505 racing dinghy.

There - I've gone and done it, I've admitted I was a raggie!!!!!! /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

"Standing on the front bow" ?? /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif. Do MOBOS also have a stern one or side one as well. Primitive sailing boats only tend have one bow and that tends to be at the front.

Me swmbo and dogs + boat decided to go for our first time to Scotland in the 3rd week of May. The whole of the British isles was basking in temperatures approaching the 90s, but, not us !! oh no, we had 3-4 layers of clothes on and clouds and wind !!!. I must admit that it really is like being on another planet ,the scenery and gardens in spring are phenomenal. We rented a croft on the shore of Loch Fyne , with own slipway and jetty ,a bit of a tight squeeze reversing the rig in but managed ok. The owners have an inflatable for guests use ( just take a little o/board with you) Absolutely peaceful and a great place to get away from it all. Will probably try again next year. If anyone wants details message me and Ill give you the owners website.
