I ticked the box marked 'tuition in close quarters handling' but Julie was having none of it and suggested a gentle cruise from Hamble to Cowes today. We had an excellent day out and learnt such a lot in conditions we wouldn't have tried without Julie's confidence in the V48's ability to handle it. Thanks to Julie and Solitaire for their help, an exciting day!

just thought i'd chime in with my opinion being the v48 is a great boat, especially down weather, just to note becuase it's well worth trying trips that are into the sea just in case they get better because turning round is never really a problem. have been reduced to 8 knots mid channel into the conditions and turned round and did 25 with very little discomfort. Hope you enjoy the boat, great choice.

Well you now know the boat is exceptionally competent. Julie went home to bed!! If anybody says the Solent don't get rough, you now know what to say. LOL

The Solent can get a little bit bumpy, can't it? ;)

Rough is when you keep tight lines tied to the jetty!

Glad you enjoyed your day Kevin, wot no pics? :)

Good point, that is just what Julie showed us. Into the wind over tide we could stay on the plane but risked launching off bigger waves, but downwind it became a much calmer ride, despite 30knt winds gusting to over 40knts.
