Power Steering Reservoir

Following Petem's O Ring post yesterday it has inspired me to post about the need for a washer.

In all seriousness though, my filler cap that the bleed line attatches to in the engine bay is leaking. There is a rubber washer below the cap that is clearly causing the leak as it is the wrong size for sure.

So - do I need to buy a specific replacement rubber washer for the unit or will any only 2mm rubber washer do the trick to stop the leak.

Yawn, its not an exciting post, but hey that is boat ownership sometimes.

It’s nice to hear that the most serious faults reported with boats this winter is just a leaking washers, could be a whole lot worse if something more serious went wrong

When you bled the steering from the helm I bet you didn’t disconnect the pipe from the reservoir in the engine bay.
Because you didn’t it’s allowed the reservoir to fill up with fluid over the full mark , you need to drain some out , the cap seals but the reservoir needs to breathe hence it won’t seal.
I’ll look at it On service to make sure it’s ok .
