hi
Talking to a friend in the pub over the weekend who caught his outboard in a pot line ,the question came up about shotguns and the legality of useing one at sea to shoot floating debris and maybe the odd pot bouy.
So can he use a legal Shotgun at sea

Dave

I find they are great to moor up to for a lunch stop.

I always leave a little note to thank the owner for the lobster.

It's the possession of a shotgun that requires a licence not it's use, so if you are licenced to possess one you can use it on a boat in UK waters. But I would guess that blasting a pot marker would be the same as blasting something on land ie criminal damage. People still go duck shooting round our coast using shotguns.

See special forum

Our noble leader has set up a special forum for reports of problems caused by pots. Go to 'main index' and you'll find it about half way down the page. You might like to report your friend's incident there.
