This just demonstrates the Coopec and I are just trying to help and less experienced posters and of cause pvb and paulrainbow would claim do to the same, but

When Coopec and I post a possible solution pvb and paulrainbow seem to take offence and pick any faults in what we say. Are they trying to get us banned so they have the field to themselves or is it that they cannot any criticism.

I don't know but IMHO is not in the spirit of the forum where we can share our knowledge and experience with those less experienced.

You also claim that you correct and incorrect posts but when I correct or comment on one of your posts you don't seem to be able to handle that hence your response.

Paul you and I have been put on shore leave once before so lets just live and let live if you can but I do reserve the right to defend and false statements you make about me or my posts.

If we deffer lets just agree to differ and move on.

I wouldn't worry about it Roger.

It's just a fact of forum life that people do get a bit picky if they see something which is not 100% correct, or might be 100% correct but does not give 100% of the story.

The truth is that I would be delighted to have you, Paul, PVB, Vic etc help me working on my boat or cars, even though we don't always agree. With our shared knowledge and experience, we have a lot more in common than the vast majority of the population. :)

EDIT .... post edited as further information came to light. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks Richard I don't worry I have been used to that most of my Engineer and software career but I do get a laff out of it.

Yes I would love to work together as I alway learn from others and an happy to help others hence my participation here

I would love to see some pics of your workshop and details of you bat and car.

All my cars need some TLC as they were neglected while I was build DistantShaws and while away on the boats and at my Condo 800 Km away.

I did meet VicS some years ago when I visited the UK but it is unlikely SWMBO and I will visit again as we have no close family left in the UK

You asked for this Roger ...... after 50 years of "making do" without a welder, I went out and bought a MIG a couple of weeks ago. o_O

Much to my Wife's horror, I still haven't bought a fire extinguisher but, as I'm still doing practice welds well away from fuel tanks etc, I think we'll be OK.

Now, do you think I should post up some photos of my welding? I could start with my very first attempt (the horror!) and show how the learning process is going. Others on here with welders could then pitch in with helpful comments about what I'm doing wrong and even chip in with their photos.

I reckon that as long as you have a good grinder, you can be a great welder.

You are not alone in feeling this way. I think "Tall Poppies" would be appropriate.
I just give up and bow out of giving advice when pvb and rainbow man chime in, I hate know it alls who are often wrong.

Boater Sam

It is well known in Psychology -

"The Dunning-Kruger effect is a type of cognitive bias in which people believe
that they are smarter and more capable than they really are."

Dunning-Kruger Effect: Why Incompetent People Think They Are Superior

PVB says

"Just posting links to random stuff found on Google isn't exactly sharing experience, though".

So I just picked that link out at random? ?

(Did you know PVB has built a yacht?)

Ah, I remember the thread now, something about a battery monitor problem. You posted incorrect advice and as I recall both Paul Rainbow and I said so. You took offence, but you could instead have used it as a learning opportunity. As for being "often wrong", I seem to recall that my suggestion was taken up by the OP and proved correct. I'm not infallible, but if I know enough to contribute sensibly, I may contribute. If I don't know anything about the query, I'll generally not contribute.

Funny you should speak about MIG I also bought a MIG welder and aluminium MIG gun.

I was stick welding and oxy acetylene welding/cutting back in the late 1960's and I had a stick welding kit back when I lived in the UK and it came with me when I came to RSA.

I also has some transformer welding machines but updated to DC inverter welding may be 20/ 25 years ago and then started TIG welding of stainless as you cannot gas weld stainless.

Even I have been welding on and off for years I still have to get into practice to do good welds. and of cause having a steel boat you do need to weld otherwise pay through your nose.

I have a view that I would rather by a tool or machine to do the job than to pay some one else to do it. There is of cause a limit. It helps being in an area with lots of jobbing workshops.

We also have a local company that laser and plasma cuts stainless steel and other metals for small jobs so I don't have to stock largeish amounts of stainless except stainless tube.

One of my last fabrication jobs was a jetty for my condo so I can moor my mono all the time I am there saving launching and recover everytime I wish to use mu mobo. It also allows me to motor over the river to get to my sail boat at the yacht club.

I do enjoy designing and making things, repairing and reusing where possible.

Why are you making posts to me in a thread i have not contributed to ?

You can't help yourself, can you ?

Here we go again o_O o_O o_O o_O

You start posting stuff to me in a thread i'm not taking part in, then post "Here we go again" ???

You can't help but criticise my posts in other threads, but now you want to do it in threads where i'm not involved ?

What is wrong with you ?

So I cannot even refer to a forum member in any post he is not posting on.

I take that yet another new rule.

You ask what's wrong with me.

Well I am not clairvoyant so I cannot anticipate all the new rules that seem to be imposed.

You didn't refer to me, you slagged me off, then directly addressed me in your final two paragraphs.

Give it a rest.

I will if you and your calibrator stop insulting me and breaking the forum rules .

Its very tiresome for me and other forum users who just want help.

You're right, do appear to want help. Especially as you are often in breach of forum rules.

By the way, I'm intrigued, what's a "calibrator"?

As mentioned, the bowman heat exchanger has fresh cooling water entering one end and leaving the other so i cant see its possible for cooling water to ever get into the cylinders from the heat exchanger
