Portugal to lanzarote information

Have done this run a few times. If there's any likelihood of serious westerly weather keep well off the Moroccan coast. If you have the time consider breaking the passage with a stop in Porto Santo or Madeira, if there's more north than east in the forecast.

Don't miss Rabat in Morocco on the way down - but you need settled weather - otherwise just sail directly to Lanzarote from southern Portugal - not much to it just keep an eye on the weather coming out of the med and sail down. It's the return trip that's a bugger.

Did the trip last June from Gib had good wind 20knt mainly N N/W took 4 days and 6 hours very straight forward. Returning to the Med this year via Madeira in July August.

Went over a sea mount in a F7 in 2004 on route to Porta Santo. Seas were twice the size of the already large seas in a northerly blow. Seriously rough! We gave them a wide berth this time
Sometime I never even considered , what in your opinion is best time to do trip?
