Hi,
I have a few jobs that I am going to need to get quotes for so I would be very grateful if anybody has any recommendations for any reliable guys to speak to about these jobs in the Gosport or Port Solent areas?
Price is, sadly, also going to be a big decider!
1. Selden type 20 rodkicker aluminium casing is corroded (but not bad enough to buy a new one at the eye watering prices) - I am after an engineer who could weld some new aluminium to re-fabricate the worst bit and strengthen it again
2. Webasto heater which is from 2006 has recently (last week) stopped creating warm air (although the fan still works) - could be a fuel feed problem at best or the unit itself is faulty so I need a tradesman (and I don't know if this is a marine electronics job or general engineer/shipwright) who can diagnose/fix
3. Raymarine ST6002 smartpilot now (again as of last week) not holding course and display saying "Drive Stopped" - need a tradesman who can diagnose/fix. Also, I assume this is best done in the water rather than on the hard?
4. Large genoa (140% on 45' yatch) has worn out sacrifical strip that needs to be replaced - any recommendations?
5. Finally, there is 14 years of anti foul and the time may have come for its removal - we normally do our own anti-fouling but for removal seems to be a much bigger job so, again, any recommendations?
Many thanks all!
Cheers

Malcolm Morling lives on matahari on Haslar is a webasto engineer. Very reasonable especially if you act as gofer on a job with him. Last number I have is 07580 599915. Btw also a very good engine man.

Yes Malcolm has sold up and gone to Asia. I would suggest a number of different tasks here but maybe speak to Raymarine on number 3. If you take the sail into Arthur's they will have details of local sailmaker to look at sacrificial strip and have cleaned etc. For heating don't know for webasto but ask at marina offices or ask Chris at gosport boatyard as he might source someone. I have this idea antifouling is removed at hay Ling island

Keto based in swanwick for the Webasto.
Paul Shotton for antifoul removal.

Covercare at Thornham marina, Emsworth could do the UV strip - very reasonably priced. The just did a very good job replacing mine.

Kemp Sails now have a loft in Gosport, just round the corner from YouBoat. Family business, very pleased with the sacrificial strip replacement they did for me.

They also did my sail-cover, replaced a zip and I can't remember what else - "it actually took us longer than that, but we felt we couldn't charge you that much."

Why not Gosport Boatyard for the antifoul? They treated me very well this summer.

Dave Hancock. Excellent all-rounder (ex charge hand at Moody's). Excellent bloke. PM me if you would like his number.
