That’s what I was saying, sometimes it makes sense, usually not.Every installation i've done, the smaller size of the cell pack is a benefit.
More thread drift but so far I have installed around 200 of these packs or batteries for customers and not one has had insurance questions let alone problems. I have literally only seen people say they were asked on this forum (despite having had full quotes after providing full details of my own install from at least 6 major insurance companies ; not one of whom asked about LFP) and the only question seems to be was it professionally installed . As there is no legal professional standard in the UK I would guess anyone who met the ISO minimum requirements could answer yes.And how does your insurance company know the quality of your construction? Most people are not qualified professional electricians with professional insurance, so self build just isn't feasible whether financially viable or not. Fogstar ticks the box for insurance, as do portable power banks, but components sourced from AliExpress and self assembled rarely would.
It was you that drifted the thread onto insurance issues and i responded to that. You wriggled and twisted to try and justify your incorrect comments regarding savings, insurance problems and now warranties. That’s what I was saying, sometimes it makes sense, usually not.
Warranty is a thing too though and adds value. What warranty do you offer on your batteries? I’m not trying to catch you out or argue, but you’ve ignored this several times now and it would be useful information for this apples to apples discussion.
Bearing in mind OP wasn’t even asking about batteries but full power solutions with charging and inverter built in, it’s a huge leap to building the battery
I certainly wasn’t suggesting thatI don't think Paul or I are touting for business by promoting cells over drop ins
So it’s a no on the warranty then?It was you that drifted the thread onto insurance issues and i responded to that. You wriggled and twisted to try and justify your incorrect comments regarding savings, insurance problems and now warranties.
Have you notified your insurance company about your DIY Lithium installation ?
Of course it is and you knew full well that i'm not going to be buying a product with a 1 year warranty and passing it along to customers with a 10 year warranty, especially as i supply the cells at cost, Fogstar do not give any trade discount on their cells. So it’s a no on the warranty then?
You started off by saying "Most people are not qualified professional electricians with professional insurance, so self build just isn't feasible whether financially viable or not. Fogstar ticks the box for insurance,"I have not wriggled and twisted at all. Insurance always prefers professionally built and supplied products to homemade things as there is someone to sue if it goes wrong. Your speculation that they don’t care is just that.
