No, but the sun does come up on the wrong side in the northern hemisphere

Absolutely. But I have to say that those saily boats from your part of the world that come out this way and insist on trying to sail upside down through the roaring 40's have got it all wrong though.

Some people are getting confused, it is simple 'Port' is the left and 'Starboard' is the right /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Hope that answers the question (diving for cover)

I had noticed all the power, but the only photograph I have seen is your profile picture. If you can point me to one/some somewhere, I would be interested. I have to manage with 50 hp but in quite a lot smaller vessel of course (about 10 plus tonnes lightship and around 12 tonnes with full fuel, water, stores, etc) but economically cruises a little under hull speed in reasonable conditions.

I think I saw in one of your recent posts that you had designed the rig yourself too.

I have a soft place for both power and sail, and although I have never owned a MoBo bigger than a tender, I have a professional interest - currently managing the design and construction of 2 off 75 foot power catamarans with over 2,000 hp in each.

There's a slightly bigger picture on boatones website, "boatsontheweb" I think the name is, but the picture is called Englander, as is the boat. Yes I did design the rig, or rather modified it. Before it was miniscule, with no main backstays, no roller reeefing (in fact no outer forestay) short mast, short boom, etc. etc. I trebled her sail area and the mast is still too short, I should have scarfed in five meters, instead of the three! My brother was right!!

Oh yeah. I knew you were referring to "anchor wench" not "anchor winch" when referring to accidents with the young lady on the foredeck.
