Port Solent, New Haven or where?

I currently dry berth my motorboat at Port Solent, which is very expensive, a bit boring coming slowly down the river and at peak times extremely frustrating waiting to go through the lock. New Haven offer dry berthing but I know nothing of that area. What's it like? Safe, easy to navigate, interesting places to go?
Alternatively, can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative to Port Solent where they will put my boat in and out of the water for me?
Many thanks

Don't know much about New Haven, never seems a very interesting area to me, except for nipping accross the channel, perhaps. No doubt someone will come on now and say, 'ere you're foregetting about----.or ---.

I dry berth in Poole, there are three dry berthing establishments now. Good area to be in I think, West you have Swanage, Lulworth, Weymouth and beyond, east you have Bournemouth, the Solent and IOW. Don't know what you call expensive, but I pay (this year) £250 per metre, which I reckon ain't bad. No locks, and with 10 knot harbour speed limit, it doesn't take all day to get out ot sea.

Off down there tomorrow to make the most of this bit of sunshine.
