After 5 years at Brighton, I've now had enough that cowes is just too far for just a weekend.

Tomorrows the day for our new home berth at Port Solent. Heard good and bad things about the marina, however the playground makes it for us.. will finally be able to wash her down in peace!

Any of you forumites berthed at Port Solent please say hello, your notice my two girls (2 & 3 years old) waving frantically!!

:)

Welcome to Port Solent. I'm guessing your tag name is the boat name so I'll look out for you. Mines a Sealine S34 called imagine on the end of H pontoon.

We've been there for a couple of years now and like it a lot, plenty of places to walk the dog and eat & drink etc etc.

Only advise if if going out in the morning on a Sunny weekend day book the lock early, have your breakfast/morning coffee outside of the marina. It has been known for a wait for 4 lock fulls nearly 2hrs if tide's low.

HI Due South. We too were in Brighton and on your Jetty I think. Left past the toilet blocks ?

We moved our boat from Brighton to Hasler last weekend and like you plan to visit the area.

Having kept previous boats in Port Solent I think you will find it very good and interesting for the kids as there is plenty to do. As said by earlier quote, do book the lock in good time on weekend hot sunny days and also when coming back in on a Sunday with the Sunsail lot. Keep an eye out for freeflow as thats good to save time.

Hope yu will enjoy your new area.

We were there this morning having a coffee and cake whilst waiting for a car's MOT to complete. Very nice day. Tide still out first thing so no mobos moving although a couple of boats looked like they would be going somewhere today. I did see a few yachts going out though.

A large Squadron had just been lifted and was being moved to the hard whilst we went to the chandlers.

I can't wait to have our boat back there. I still think it is a good place to be based in that there is plenty to do away from the boat. This is probably more important for people who can't just drive home in 15 mins.

oh yes and another thing. As I found out last week, you can get a train direct from Portsmouth to Brighton. Good service at 1 every half hour. Cost me £14.50 one way. So you could let the train take over on busy road days or times!!

We loved Port Solent when we visited by car, and the chandlery was HUGE. We're moving our SQ55 to Swanwick, but Port Solent is on our wish list for an overnight trip.

I hear there's a shopping mall you can moor outside just down the river too! Not to mention some awesome Naval boats just outside the marina.

Yes, Gunwharf does have some shopping as well as the odd night club. SWMBO wants us to go there this year by boat so she can show me her moves on the dance floor and we can drink without worrying about how to get home :D

Hi and welcome, I won't have so far to travel for this years servicing, I'm there this Tuesday and Wednesday so will look out for the boat, good luck in your new home.

Thanks to all for the hello's and hope to meet some of you in the not so distant future. It all went smoothly on a cracking weekend for March. Loving being able to park so close to the berth and everyone actually uses their boats here compared to Brighton!

CharlieAlpha, I can see your S34 as I'm on a temporary berth on 'G' with a move over soon to 'H' with yourself on the cards.

Volvopaul, The new 'Tides' seals are great and was definity the best option. Oil pressure alarm problem is back again despite a software update, will need some more of your worldly knowledge. Now I'm closer does that mean the next service will be cheaper ;)

Mark.

Oh yes... That night club! When we had our F34 we were offered a berth right outside, but declined. The Port Solent staff in the office were super friendly though, and that little Italian restaurant was nice.

Port Solent

Hi Due South
We're on H pontoon (Sealine S37) where you'll find a warm welcome amongst friendly folks including Charlie Alpha. Lot to be said in favour of the place - look forward to meeting up in due course.
Regards
David

O SOLE MIO - nice is a under estimate for me, truly authentic and great food from my experience. You do need to book in advance on the weekend and holidays however

PS no connection other than their food in me.

I feel a bit of a pontoon party brewing.

Yes slightly it's a 126 mile trip to Brighton and back from here, so every little bit helps!
