port engine not revving as much as strbrd?

Give Manuflex http://www.manuflex.co.uk/about/marine/ a call they are OEM suppliers to Sunseeker Fairline etc. Ask for Ian Mereweather, mail him your pictures and he will provide a bespoke solution which works.

Water cooled KKK turbine housings cost $$, however they are reasonably easy to salvage by machining out and fitting stainless sleeve which is a good robust fix. Unless blades have been milled by the corrosion turbine should clean up with vapour blast.

Good luck.

thanks Paul, replied as I was typing. Will check this guy and will report back

and another 2 years later with MiToS rebuilt closing on completion!

cleaned all heat exchangers on port engine and about to refit everything.
Noticed that the wastegate port to exhaust elbow was rather rusty and sorry looking.
Tried to poke in and see if I can dig some rust out of the cast exhaust manifold and reach the valve. Failed miserably!
Decided to remove the wastegate, managed the two allen headed screws (after 3h heating, swearing and trying), failed on the 3rd.
Gave up, took a big breath and removed the exhaust manifold altogether, took it to the machinist that's saving me everytime and he removed the third scew and as he said the wastegate effectively dropped off in his hand.
Doesn't look particularly good (OK, that's an understatement!) it's plain scrap.

Effectively the same water that rusted the turbo came down the port and rusted that lot, nice.
Trying to find a replacement wastegate (and by the looks of the stbrd side flange I may need two of them).

Found one that looks similar but is not liquid cooled like mine for 100AUS dollars and notice that there's a big valve down there to seal on the cast manifold.

Pretty sure mine's similar, so waiting for a quote from IVECO Greece but I doubt I'll like what I hear.
So, going to the Q anyone got any pointers on getting one or two wastegates for IVECO-AIFO 8061SMR33 (330hp) engines?

I'm pretty sure the machinist will be able to clean the carp out of the manifold on both axes and relap a face for the new wastegate valve to seal

Remote option is to fit external wastegate (aircooled though...) on the pipe going from the exhaust manifold flange to the elbow and block the wastegate mount with a plate. Not happy with this option tbh.

Wonder how often the wastegate is used on a marine installation on normal operation (at say 60-70% load or less)

cheers
