Porpoise in colne !!

Anyone else see the Porpoise in the Colne ( just off East Mersea stone point ) on Sunday, it was aiming upriver towards Alresford at about 13.00 hrs ?

I saw one coming out of the Pyefleet on Saturday, near the Pioneer's mooring.

Seen it!

Yep, saw it on Saturday night (18/8/12) at around 20:00 swimming around our boat whilst we were anchored off Mersea Stone.

Amazing sight to see and one I never thought I'd see in our waters.

We have seen them a couple of times while teaching kids to sail, always in the same place.

we saw one outside Chatham lock last weekend could even hear it breathing fantastic hope it was not lost looked very healthy hopefully just feeding.

No no, just my feeble attempt at humour.
There really do seem to be more about again these last few years. They were a very common sight in the Estuary when I was a kid, 50-60 years ago.

Porpoises

Saw two porpoises off Clacton about three weeks ago on passage back from Ipswich to Brightlingsea then two days later in the Swin. Come to that also saw a seal in Fox's Marina on the same trip. I think he was after the Bass that were happily swimming around ignoring the baited hook of my crew.
