Pontoon steps

Anybody got suggestions about pontoon steps? I requested to change where my Aquastar 38 was moored, now find the new pontoon about 8" lower than the previous. A solid step about 6 - 8" also usable by elderly dog as well would be about right. The marina is not too fussed if we fix something semi permanent.

I never needed one for the boat but I have a similar one in the house and it's strong and takes up little room when folded.

We have a couple of them at home too, handy for the little one to go pee-pee I keep my bedside reading material on the one we use to reach the top shelf in the wardrobe at home, it's the perfect height for that.

For the boat we looked at a few and settled on a metal folding two step, packs away behind the cockpit seats and is out the road, also it gets used as an impromptu table for the helms person, handy for setting your mug of coffee/tea/hot chocolate on while eating on the move.
With the fact that Hunter has a step halfway up the side it does make getting on and off easier and the steps have had little use, we got the steps in the local DIY shop Gamma

I made this. This is an early experimental version. I later made 2 bent hooks that go over the rail rather than tie on. The 2 bits of studding hold the footplate square. The footplate is now made from 12 MM Trespa. There is a metal strap under the wood joining the 2 bits of studding. The threaded part of the studding is covered in clear heat shrink. On the top of the studding are 2 eye bolts which do not show very well

Lots of folk seem to construct a substantial / solid wooden box and leave on the pontoon, Some include a bit of storage for stuff.

And a real PITA they are as well, preventing the neighbouring boat from bringing a trolley down the finger.
