The steps i have by the boat on the pontoon are about to collapse. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyone got an ingenious solution to getting on and off the boat? I notice some folk use a box they can also store things in.

(I bet someone here posts a picture of something really clever) /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The devices which double as fenders are very slippery when it freezes.

I'd go for a box . They guy next to me made one up from the timber used for decking, so it's non-slip and preserved. He puts his smart mooring lines and snubbers in it when he's away.

He's got a neat anti-nicking device: the step box has a little lock on the step/lid, and through the base of the box is a chain and lock which he passes through a hole in the base, under a plank in the pontoon, and back again, thus fastening it to the pontoon.

Being a really keen DIY type, he has put a sheet of formica on one side, so he can leave a message in felt tip, e.g. Away till Thursady, Contact number 123...."

Sorry no pic; I'm away from the boat.
