I am making a holding tank using a polyester resin, chop strand layup (to fit in an awkward place). I intend to coat it with 3 layers of epoxy resin inside and out. Should this provide sufficient odour proofing? Does anyone know of a better coating to apply?

I can't say I like the idea of a built in holding tank. Much easier to remove
a small seperate tank if you have problems with it.

G'day Ableseaman and welcome to the YBW forums.

You only need to coat the inside of the tank with epoxy, also take note of others comments re shape, very important...

I have used foam sheet material to form a funnel off to one side to ensure good drainage, also give lots of thought to the location of the vent and how you are going to clean it from time to time.

Consider building a flat area on top so an access can be made later if required. also building in a connection (with shut off valve) near the top for a hose to flush the tank if required without opening it in any way.

Hope this helps,

Avagoodweekend an Chrissie......
