Could anyone recommend a suitable product for cleaning and then polishing (if this is appropraite) my aluminium boom nad mast.

I can't give a specialised answer, but I usually wash down with a normal boat cleaner (Sailbrite) and use a normal wax polish, also Sailbrite. I think most people do something similar. I think any product will do; the main thing is to do it.

Give Allspars at Plymouth a ring 01752-266766. Andy is the boss. They gave me a tin of special polish that is apparently used on aircraft It did make an improvement - better than anything else I tried. I've still got half a tin left - enough to do a couple of big spars. You can have it if you pick it up from Salisbury (or Devon), I can't post it.
