There are some moorings on the west side of the upper Hamoaze, just before the Lynher River. More specifically, between Carew Pt and Wilcove Lake, opposite Kinterbury Pt. Even more specifically 50 23.45N, 04 12.5W.

Does anyone know who owns or controls them? Are they the sort of moorings where you can pick up a buoy for a night if there is no dinghy on them?

We've picked one of these for a lunch stop but not stayed overnight.
You can anchor a little way up the Lynher, not too far away.
Or, continue up to Dandy Hole.
BTW Dandy is derived from Devil. Therefore it was probably in the distant past called Devils Hole!

I know those moorings well and have used them once or twice but most, I think, are fore and aft requiring two warps and as I am always single-handing I find it quite a bother. Last weekend a couple of singles were free but I didn't use them. Instead, I turned left up the Lynher and anchored in the bay on the north side just past the group of stone houses called Wearde Quay and before the channel turns hard left towards the navy's small boat moorings. The bay there is sheltered in most weathers and the walks on shore are great. You can land a dinghy (and walk the dog) at all tides on the rocks just around the point.
Try to get a message to Cornishman who posts here often and runs the racing for Saltash Sailing club. I bet he knows.

Thanks for that. We quite often go there and beyond, just past the cable that crosses the Lynher to Jupiter, between there and Shillingham point.

Have you ever gones right up the Tamar, past Holes Hole and anchored there?

Thanks also Brian B and Captainslarty.

I moor my boat at Weir Quay, half a mile before Hole's Hole. Very often I just go round the corner, up-river, where the anchorages are endless and the scenery is as good as Dandy Hole, probably quieter. If you haven't been up to Calstock on the tide you've got a real treat in store. There are visitor moorings there and plenty of lonely spots to anchor on the way up, depending on your draft and state of tide. Beyond Calstock you can go right up to Morwelham when the tide is right, trees virtually closing over the mast head. My draft is 4ft 6in and I just made it but was very careful about timing. I reckon I had a minimum depth of about seven feet. Talk about African Queen! It's a real adventure. Alternatively, take a mooring at Calstock and go to Morwelham and quite a way beyond by dinghy.
Look out for me on the way past!
Happy landings!
