Why not, it just needs a protection hoop? This is our old plotter on a swiveling Navpod. Worked perfectly. Tilts up and down so vertical challenged helmspeople can see it at the correct angle.
When on autopilot and tucked under the sprayhood we would just turn it round. Even works on both tacks as you can point it at the side you are sitting on.
