Sorry to hear this Ben, perhaps underserved to my mind, but I don't know the whole story. One has to be careful during probation. Was it your first pure sales job, you were rather franker about how things work than most sales people would be?

Anyway, best of luck for another position soon.

Hmmm. Not sure I'd want my profit margins made public either. Sacking is a bit harsh though, I suspect Ben's guilty of no more than naiveity(sp?).

Ben,

You were doing a sterling Job for Southern. I was going to seatrial a 32 prestige at hamble with them. But I am happy to say they can sod off now! Myself, like most who have been around longenough know the score with Margins and Prices. It was a little bit silly posting it if on probation, thought you had a long time in. Never mind, I presume they had a crap show and needed to slim a few people down. any excuse i suppose.

Well, in True Gludy style it will cost them £150k of my cash. I am off to buy a second hand boat off anyone except them.

Daft happeths......sorry you lost the commision on the sale /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Welcome to you anyway

Well thanks for the support chaps...

I did sell some boats for them, with 3 completing this month and deposits on two more, but that's just life I guess!

It was not my first sales role, and I have enjoyed some real success in several sales roles. I wont go into detail, as that seems to have been what got me into hot water in the first place, but needless to say I think a mis-understanding of my roles plays a large part in my leaving their employ.

If anybody would like any frank advice from a now obviously unbiased with regards to not pushing my wares type person on CE Marking, boat sales or whatever just ask and I'll happily reply.

Just need to get a post count back as me rather than BrokerBen.

I truly enjoy boats and boating, I own a 41 foot sailing boat, and have spent the last few years doing sea trials and tests on both sailing and powerboats, as well as carrying out detailed inspections of both. I am intimately familiar with them, have likes and dislikes, and also have built up some useful knowledge in the mean-time.

It's nice to know in my fairly short time contributing here at least some people didn't hate my style and effort.

I hope to be here just as often from now on, and to contribute where I can.

I am half tempted to set up my own brokerage to be honest, I have plenty of listings available to me, and working by myself there's no politics to deal with!

Thanks again.

Ben

Ben, if you wanted to keep your post count, you could have changed your name within the User Options (a moderator has to approve the name change before it goes live) then your post count remains. You can still still do that, but won't be able to use Ben_Jordan as that is already taken, then let this username go dormant.

No, I asked that I be deleted, and my other posts along with me being deleted if possible.

Clearly my posts upset them, the last thing I need to do is not only be jobless, but have them taking me to court or at least trying too.

I just need to chalk it up to experience and get on with life. I am sure I will find an opportunity better suited to me, where i am not just used for boatshow cover and happen to be quite good at selling their boats, but where I can succeed and have that success appreciated.

I enjoyed working for a small company previously, and am inclined to do that again if possible!

It does seem a little suspect that they let you go straight after the boat show, now that they dont need staff untill next spring. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ben, good luck!
I guess Southern Motor Boats just used you for SIBS?
You have a good attitude and deserve to do well, have a go at your own brokerage, you never know you might end up buying them out!
Thier loss, sound like a bunch of tossers to me.....you're better off out of it!
Their web site is now off my favourites list.

Also to answer earlier questions which I forgot to do... by way of not noticing them...

Yes the current management people been there for many years, and I just didn't click with them.

I am very tempted to get started with a brokerage, but have to speak nicely to some web developer friends first, as I am going to need a slick site. I am however pretty efficient at selling boats for people, that there is no denying, so I intend to make a go of it.

Details to follow I hope!

I cannot, it's locked/deleted.

Believe me I tried, I can of course come up with an excellent replacement now!

It's not deleted. Ask the new boy Mason to remove the strapline. I doubt they will want to remove all the old posts as it then makes nonsense of every thread you posted on.

What Ben is saying the used Broker_Ben has been banned from the forums, so he can't do anything, only the Mods can edit it, but that would mean editing each and every individual post.

Best option is to Unban the user and then go in and delete his signature in the user profile.

Cheers

Al.
