Has anyone had dealings with Plastimo at Eastleigh as I am having a nightmare with them over a faulty Navman unit. Have I just caught them on a bad week or is this normal???

they seem to have a problem with their supply chain - if it's not in stock they just know they have a problem so 'we will get you another...' is avoided

tender paddle part - don't know, don't know, .......took 5 months
anchor - don't know , don't know......got it elsewhere
shame 'cos it's is good and looks well priced in the book

Yes, I had a problem with them a few years ago regarding a compass. In the end I went to Plastimo in France and got excellent service!!

I won't buy anything "Plastimo" after a problem with some fenders some years ago.
The product was rubbish and the customer service even worse.

Interestingly, I did a sea survival course a couple of months ago and they won't buy or reccomend Plastimo products.

A few years back....

I had a Navman plotter pack up. It developed horizontal lines across the screen. Cruisermart told me that Plastimo were exchanging them for updated ones, so:-

I rang Plastimo in Eastleigh.

"I understand that I can get a replacement off the shelf?"

"Yes sir, that shouldn't be a problem"

So I went down there and after I eventually found the place (on a trading estate) and got on to their car park (large trucks coming & going at speed) I ottk the old unit in and walked out immediately with a new unit plus a new double sided sealing ring since the original was destroyed removing the faulty unit.

End of story.

Thanks for your replies which are interesting and which this forum is very good at providing. I spoke on the phone to Plastimo today and the faulty unit that I returned to them Special Delivery on Tues. last week will not be looked at until Tues. next week . But all credit to Pumkin Marine where I bought it from as they are sending a new unit so that I can sail this weekend. Hope this one doesnt fall over.
