Plastimo gone pop?

Goiot Fuler:
How special can the halyard shackle be? Have you looked elsewhere for something that would work? If not surely you could use a dyneema lashing. Certainly doesn't sound like problem enough to stop you saling.

.

Halyard swivel not shackle only a Goiot swivel will fit on a Goiot foil. RTFP :)

Update:-

NAVIMO: Despite Boating Business breaking the news in the UK of Navimo/Plastimo’s impending financial woes last Friday, the company has remained resolutely silent, with telephones left ringing unanswered.

According to a French internet newsletter – Le Télégramme.com – the group is due to attend a court hearing today (Tuesday 22 May) which will determine its future.

The current troubles began at METS last year, when the group told suppliers it was having problems, but they would be paid 30% in the pound, with the rest coming if the companies continued to back the group.

Albert Journo joined the group as CEO in June 2009. He not only invested his own money in the future of the group, he also managed to get lenders to write down the group’s debt from €101m to around €9m.

UK based private equity companies injected another €6m into the business, but it seems Mr Journo hasn’t managed – yet – to rescue the ailing company. Rumours that the group might be split up would undo everything Mr Journo tried to do.

Many companies – and the group’s employees – will be counting the cost and rueing their involvement if the group does crash

I ordered a kobra anchor about 2 weeks ago through an online chandlery and at the time they advised that plastimo delivery dates could not be relied upon. I checked today and the chandlery believe that plastimo are still trading and they expect the order to be fulfilled.

Neil

I would expect that the Tribunal will let them continue to trade for at least 3 to 6 months in order to let them try to find a solution. In the meantime it will freeze their debts.

I've got a couple of k's worth of kit on back order for which I've paid up front. They assure me that all the orders will be fulfilled and that the UK operation continues as normal. We will, of course, see if the stuff arrives......

The Tribunal's decision is planned for Friday. It looks like they will get a 2 month stay of execution and apparently there are potential candidates for taking over all or part of the activity.

Current situation is that Bainbridge are distributing Plastimo equipment - Navimo got bought over by Allianz in France - Product to marketplace is Sloooooooooooower than a snail on dope it would appear (it's just not being manufactured in enough quantity yet I believe, no fault of the distributor) . Retailers can obtain *some* Plastimo product from Bainbridge, but not much.

The Ovens are back though, as they were always built in the UK :)

Lofrans was bought by Lalizas, but the situation is the same regarding getting anything....

More likely
