Apologies to any of you who have seen this in uk.rec.sailing.
That nice Mr Ferrand has slung his old cooker my way now he has bought a
shiny new one. It's a Plastimo Atlantic and does not have flame-failure devices on
the hob burners or grill. Plastimo tell me that they will send it back to the
manufacturer in the UK for a retrofit at about £160-odd, which isn't a bad
price when compared to replacement at about £400, but I wonder if anyone
knows of a cheaper way of achieving the same result?
I have a tame CORGI-registered gas fitter who would be happy to do the job
and test it if I can get the parts for him. Not a job that I think I'll
tackle - I don't like LOUD BANGS!
