IMG_4609.jpegIMG_4608.jpegI have a second hand one of these which I’m planning to fit to my Boomaroo 25 which is an Aussie built Catalina 25 with a swing keel. I have taken the halyard swivel apart and as it has two sealed ball races, I can replace these as they are easily available - I think they are also used on bikes. My problem is with the furling drum. I have removed all the bits but can’t get at the bearings. I saw on another thread that you can wash the salt out with boiling water and wash up liquid. I’ve tried that and it turns slightly better but I think it really needs to come apart. Has anyone had any success getting it apart?

I suggest do not use any agent that can become 'sticky' .... keep to very light and as little as possible - to avoid clagging up with salt again.

Hot fresh water is good as it washes out the salts that accumulate.
