Hi everyone,

2 questions re my Plastimo 2500-

I cannot adjust the flame in the oven. Any idea why? It readily goes to full flame but turning the knob has no affect.
There is a small tube beside the flame - the end of this goes cherry red. Is that normal?

The other thing is that the square ignition button does not work (no clicking,
no sign of ignition on any of the hobs/oven). Do I need to replace the button?

Thanks in advance,
Toby

I have a similar but not identical oven
I thought that the oven flame was thermostatically controlled, so when the oven is cold, the flame will be large at first then reduce as oven temp rises. That seems to be how mine behaves.
For the sparker, have you changed the battery? On my oven it's in a holder at the rear of the oven, single AA I think

That’s a thought. I could try preheating it and see if it then turns the flame down. Thanks.

I hadn’t realised the battery might be at the back. Will have a look.

I am not sure what you mean by preheating it. Preheating what ?

The small "tube" next to the flame with the tip heated by the flame is the flame failure sensor ( thermocouple ) not the thermostat

By preheating- SimonKNz suggested that the oven needs running for a while before you can turn down the flame.

Would be interested to know why this is the case..

Because the cooker will be trying to get up to the temperature set on the thermostat as quickly as possible, hence the high flame. Once at the temperature set on the thermostat it should reduce the size of flame automatically.
