planks across the engine bay for access

i cut some scaffolding boards to fit

marine engineer was v grateful and made the job of replacing the starter easier and quicker
anyone else done this ?

Not on a boat but I have done similar things in other situations. Time spent making life less uncomfortable is never wasted!

I did similar, but unfortunatley didn't use scaffold planks for the mark 1 version. So mid starter motor change there was a snap and down I fell between the engines, head first arms down the bilge. Luckily no injury but it took a long time to extract my self.
Lesson learnt for sure and the mark 2 worked much better.

I haven't done yet, but was intending to.

My flappy-things-type boat has the engine below the cockpit floor, with limited space around to kneel or lay out (one end only) once the floor is raised. I currently have a foam type gardening kneeler to put on the rocker cover to rest my chest on.)
They only flap when you can’t sail.

:ROFLMAO: Glad you did not injure yourself !
