My boat is for sale on YBW and apollo duck I have not received any enquiry the price is lower than the same boat in UK,is the problèm linked to the fact that
The boat is lying in Brittany, where can I try to advertise her, thanks

Hi
Here in France free small ad sites are popular . You could try 'le bon coin' (the best corner) and 'viva street' But these are in French. If you dont speak French there is always google translate etc.
Also register yourself on AngloInfo for Brittany . You can advertise on there too but you could also place a post for locals to advise you as to the best place for local ads. This site is for English speaking people who live abroad where ever. The two I mentioned are national ones but with a regional facility. Also just put a sign on the boat lots of boats get sold by prospective buyers wandering around marinas. If you do that make sure you mention the prix is moin cher (low price) to attract attention.
Good luck
Mick

Help us help you by giving more details.

Are we talking about a 20ft trailer sailor, a 35 year old classic at £15k or something like a 40ft AWB where you expect to pocket £50k?

There are few dealer locations in the UK for boats that are seriously for sale. Deacons at the top end of the Hamble and the walkaround viewing staging at Hamble Point.

Aha ..... ... is that the OP's boat, or yours?

If I were looking for an HR 34, and was to be tempted to take a trip to Brittany for a skeet, I'd like to see more photos.

Please take the following as constructive thoughts, not criticisms!

I'd like close ups of the decks, as teak covering is, generally, a big negative, for me.

Also, I'd like more pics of the cockpit and interior.

Make sure she's as clean and tidy as you can get her (the cluttered chart table, for example, doesn't show her to her best).

Have a look at how our own JR Yachts shows pics on his web site.

This might attract more interest.

Good luck!

Good bit of sleuthing there, Stork.
The cost of travelling abroad to view sort of rules out British buyers but Apollo is an international site so French buyers will see the ad. This kind of boat sells well in most countries so I'm surprised it's sticking. Have you had any viewers?

Oh dear if it is the HR, no wonder there is no interest.

An owner who cannot be bothered to present his boat properly is either not a genuine seller or is an hibitual shortcut taker and this will become apparent to the following owner.

Presentation is vitally important when selling a boat ( or anything for that matter). You've got too make it stand out from the crowd. Good, honest description and lots of pictures. Tidy appearance.

One good thing I got from that advert is an idea for using an old sweet jar that I was going to chuck out. Store tubes of things like Duralac in it. :)

That is Youen's boat, mine is for sale in UK.

A laudible objective but the OP's for sale advert falls short of a much simpler hurdle which is to eliminate uncertainty and ambiguity. Standing out from the crowd is the icing on the cake.

Re. the HR 34 ad...

Does the single interior out of focus shot of the untidy chart table interior mean the owner is ill and unable to get to the boat. Maybe the fridge is covered mildrew, the bilges are full of water and the boat stinks. Or could the absence of interior saloon shots inidcate this is the worst most knocked abourt HR 34 on the market and the owner is trying to decive people through absent photos.
The vessel has a 20l holding tank, really? Sounds very small to me.
There is a wind generator, what is it, where is it mounted and how old.
AIS is listed as a "safety feature". What a nonsence description, is it integrated with the Raymarine Seatalk bus, does it have its own ariel and is the display via a laptop or dedicated intrument head.

I could go on, it is a lazy presentation of a +£100k asset.

We sold our last boat in 6 weeks last autumn, but then we spent two weeks cleaning, polishing, varnishing, clearing out and making her look 110%.

Then we took 50-60 pictures and weeded them out to 10-12 of the best, with the rest held in reserve for enquiries.

Finally we spent ages writing a description which both accurately described and also sold the virtues of the boat

She went with a broker, but we made sure their advertisement was up to scratch - initially they butchered what we had spent so long creating, in the end we got our way.

Yes it was hard work, yes it cost a bit BUT it sold her at a good price in quick time and was well worth it. You're not just selling a boat, you're selling a lifestyle and this needs effort, (especially if you're selling a high quality / price boat like an HR) even more so if you expect people to travel far to view.

Yes this is my boat,I think that if someone needs more informations he can ring me and I can send him a full inventory and more pictures, the boat is as clean as new you can eat in the bilge or even in the engine sump. For the winter the boat is ashore under a winter cover, empty, with the cushions at home in a warm room and the floor dismantled to leave the bilge ventilated.....For me its not because some booklets or anything else are laid on the chartable that the boat is rubbish. Thanks for your help and forgive my poor English

As someone who has just bought a boat (in Holland) I would take note of previous comments on presentation. I listed everything that was of interest to me and then sifted through them, weeding out those that I considered had been abused, not cared for or just looked tired and then finished up with a shortlist to pursue further. For me the quality of presentation was so important and I took the view that if an owner was not prepared to present his boat in the right manner it perhaps reflected on how he cared for it ( Possibly wrongly). Your boat is far more expensive than the one I finished up buying and imo your 'shop window' is not attractive enough to draw the prospective buyers in. Good luck in your sale.

In your opening post, you said that you are not getting any enquiries.

No-one is saying that your boat is rubbish, but, sorry, your advert is rubbish!

If you've got good pictures ready to send out, put them on your advert.

Also, make the points about the bilges in the advert.

Be pro-active, not reactive.

Good luck!
