Place for sale

Yes this is my boat,I think that if someone needs more informations he can ring me and I can send him a full inventory and more pictures, the boat is as clean as new you can eat in the bilge or even in the engine sump. For the winter the boat is ashore under a winter cover, empty, with the cushions at home in a warm room and the floor dismantled to leave the bilge ventilated.....For me its not because some booklets or anything else are laid on the chartable that the boat is rubbish. Thanks for your help and forgive my poor English
Your English is very good but maybe you have not heard the saying: "You'll never get a second chance to make a good first impression" :D

So in your reply you've just told us more about the condition of your boat than your advertisement does. Keep writing then add it to the advert, plus good pictures and an accurate inventory (surely the accommodation has more to tell about than just a cooker). Don't leave the work to the buyers, make them want your boat more than any other on appollo duck.

Spent 7 months in France. The competition for boats there is unbelievable and the prices are a little higher than the UK. I put this down to the French actually caring for their boats a little more. The majority lift annually and scrpe off antifoul and reapply. In the UK it seems the hulls even after an antifoul look terrible. I have been in a British boat yard this winter and even the professionals just give the boat a wipe down with a green scourer and then slap the paint on... The other thing understand is the british really care about how their boat looks above the waterline. The french not so much. Beautiful hull and out of place home made looking hardtops. Very practical but certainly does loose the lines of the boat.

Also in france people like to buy local. Try speaking to the marinas in the area they often have places to advertise. Dont forget the french are social and often commune in the same place to read local ads etc. The best way would be word of mouth and i think advertising in the marina would be a good way to start some local dialogue regarding your boat.

Someone mention le bon coin. They love that too. Its like Gumtree. Ebay fees are higher in france due to taxes. From what i understand the french are not big fans of ebay. . I would reccmmend advertising in honfleur, Fecamp saint Valerie En caux. All in Normandy but I think you could find some small local marinas with the same historical love for the sea and sailing.

I hope to have not offended anyone with my generalisation of French and English boats. If I have then take a look at the antifoul line next time your at a marina. Which looks nicer??? (English) which I'll perform better??? (French). Surely we should all want the same thing really... A sound hull... Everything else is just a bonus.

I strongly believe that due to lack of interest in their yacht, many times owners put out there on Sale boats in a tatty/dirty condition at a moderate price expecting them to sell

I would encourage the seller to first make the boat immaculate.... non of us like other peoples dirt, so exceptionally clean from decks to bilges.

Then get a survey done with all advices on the survey put right.

Then take many photos to demonstrate that your boat lives up to the specifications listed in any advert.

Then design or have designed a simple website showing off your boat in all aspects.

Then write about it in any way that you can get away with the advertising restrictions of sailing forums and shout about it wherever you are to absolutely anyone you can think of.

I may have been lucky, but it worked for me
