Pitched props - idle curiosity ?

If you have a pitched prop does this mean you never have to use reverse? Eg By feathering it into "reverse" pitch you have the leading edge cutting and not the trailing edge like standard props. Also does it mean that you do not have to joggle between netural forward and reverse when docking - just feather it into netural?

ALTERNATIVELY If you have a pitched prop does this mean that after you have worn out "forward" you feather it the other way and always use reverse - but still go forward? Also just feather it and go in reverse.

Remarkable invention - damned clever these chaps.

Feedback anyone?

I should think having pitch on your prop is a damned inconvenience. I got some on my jeans once and it was a sod to get off.

Try Turpentine.

No pitch = No motion (might as well save fuel and not run the engine).

Re: Aeroplanes

pitching to reverse is exactly what turbo prop planes do to slow down when they land. No good for a boat, the pitch gubbins is too big, too much drag. Much better to select neutral and reverse via a gearbox and avoid the underwater drag of a massive prop hub.
