SWMBO and I may be able to come. However, apart from an Enterprise and a Topper, I don't have a boat at the moment and I would need to come by road. Having a car, I can bring plenty of wood.

I have looked a Google earth, and I am not sure I can get to the Stone by road with a car - Is this so?

I'm not overly familar with the place, but I don't think so. However, I may be picking up one father-n-son combo from Titchmarsh, so could also pick you up. Thing is, Black Magic is full accomodation wise, so you'd have to camp!

No, you cannot get to Stone Point by car. The nearest car park is at The Walton on the Naze Tower and then it is about a mile walk. Although there is a private road that takes you nearer you cannot park down there. It annoys the natives!

Also, at high water +/- a couple of hours, you may find you cannot walk in or out, as the case may be. The local lifeboat has been called out many times for a tourist or two getting stuck out there.

Personally, i would not advise you try to walk, as you do not know the area, as some parts can be dangerous due to deep mud and water logged sand etc.

Hope this is of help

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will pass on that one. I don't fancy camping in this weather, and I don't have a tent, but thanks anyway.

Have a good time

A few years ago I attended without boat. Mr & Mrs 'Chellers' (where have they gone?) got picked up from Titchmarsh by Clive (that was just before the sinking feeling) and walked back along the beach.

Not sure if I will be there this year. We are about to relocate from one of the 4 sites I operate at work and that weekend is reserve move date.

Camping at Stone Point? -

Great option!

Have done it in the past & the kids loved it - real Swallows & Amazons stuff.

Plus you will have a much quieter night than those whose anchor decides ‘to go walk-about’ at 0200 (tide turn)! Also experienced this & welcomed the dawn in Harwich Bay!

May see you there. Or for those who need replenishment at the Walton Coop/Tescos (open 'til 2300) see you in Foundry Reach.

Hi All, apologies for absence, radio silence etc and general lack of appropriately boaty behaviour. The Saguday-ites do plan to be cruising the area again in August but unfortunately work prevents getting there in time for Pirate Weekend, so we hope to be down sometime the week after.

It was a lot of fun for us last year, especially the anchor dragging, grounding, attempted salvage by Full Circle, failure of said attempt, sleeping at jaunty angle, sheepish sunrise departure to Titchmarsh before anyone awoke, etc.

Hope you all have a great time and get good weather, will try and meet up when we (finally) get on the water again.

Cheers

Neil

Ooh, I had forgotten that. Made I smoile so it did.

:( I don't need the stress!

Lisa

I have never been a keen 'anchorer', the times I have done it have never had a mishap (yet) but never sleep well as I am waiting to drag!

I have always been able to find a buoy up stream a bit.

Looking less likely that I will make it (again) - this weekly commuting to work is ruining my sailing life!
