Pirates - runners and riders list 4th August

anyone been across the swin spitway at low water laterly.

we are going to the pirates weekend and hoping to get there friday night from the crouch, only problem is we will be doing it about low water so any advise welcome.

thanks

A friend of mine came through a few weeks ago at near LW springs, and was sweating a bit. He draws 0.91 metres. He said he might just have touched a couple of times. Seems as if it is shallowing

Regards

Ian & Jo

Forecast is a bit grim.

We're coming round from Tollesbury on Thursday afternoon - wind with tide in the Wallet :) but doubtful that we'll stay after Friday lunchtime if the forecast stays this way. Fingers crossed things improve.

Don't look to bad at the moment!

If it stays a s forecast it will be wind on the nose and bumpy with wind against tide coming down from the Deben and wind up the chuff and surfing on the way home.

As folks who live almost permanently on the water, normally overseas & thus deprived of the ‘excellent’ service the Met. Office provides you guys, in addition to grib files, we regularly seek out reliable sites to cover our needs

Two sites that have stood the test of time are Wind Finder & Wind Guru. It is our experience that Wind Finder is optimistic while Wind Guru pessimistic!

With regards to your forthcoming at Stone Point you may like a look at the following Walton sites:

http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=5200 (7 day, 3 hourly forecast)

http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/walton-on-the-naze (7 day, 3 hourly forecast)

http://www.windfinder.com/weatherforecast/walton-on-the-naze (3 day super, hourly forecast).

Both sites make the weather look reasonable for this weekend.

Hope this helps.

The weather forecast for most of Saturday is rain - If it does rain, will we meet ashore in the W&FYC or the Harbour Lights Restaurant or somewhere else?

Fab suggestion........... "IF" a total wash out (like last year) - shall we all still dress as pirates and meet up in the Harbour lights?????

However, XC weather reckons its gonna be a good weekend!! fingers crossed they are right! I guess we'll start to get a better idea tomorrow (thursday).

Hi

If you decide to come up to the W&FYC you have 2 options:

Provided you book, you could come into The Pond. Access would be limited to about an hour before high water but you would have the benefit of all of the club facilities (bar open all day) & only 5 mins walk to Tesco/Coop & the flesh pots of Walton. Your earliest departure would be on Sunday PM.

Or

Pick up a vacant buoy (there are plenty) at the top end of the Walton Channel & dinghy half a mile up the well buoyed Foundry Reach to the club.

As it is Open Race Week the club should be heaving but as it claims, the W&FYC is one of the friendliest clubs on the East Coast. Beware at low tide there is no water outside of the pond.

But as just a member I may be trespassing into the preserve of Captain Of Boats, my good friend, Captain Pete so I will leave him to pick up on this idea.

It's gonna be fine... All the forecasts I have seen seem to be saying so... The met office is the most sceptical... It even they seem to be saying it will be ok...

Not like last year!

I got my firewood!

Car is full of stuff for the holiday... Departure tommorrow am!

Huzzah!!

Have a good trip..... look forward to meeting you / all.
