Love the last statement

Arif Oomer, from Sunseeker Middle East
If the boat had been stolen by the pirates it would have had huge implications for us and our customers.'

I should imagine it would have had huge implications for the crew as well.

He reported that the vessel behind them in the convoy had been boarded.

Do remember the old joke about the running shoes & the lion?
Two guys worried about being chased by a lion, & one puts on running shoes. The other one says, "What's the point, no-one can outrun a lion?" The reply comes, "I don't need to outrun the lion, I only need to outrun you."

So the Sunseeker only needed to outrun the boat behind them. Sad that they haven't bothered to offer any news about the people actually caught. Still, it seems they made a good impression on their local agent.

Do I remember that ,I had the trainers on the Missus had high heels

One down to the Lions ;)

I still cannot work out why ,if they have the appetite for it they do not use "Q" boats

I assume the Sunseeker was on a ship, so it didn't outrun anything. In fact it doesn't seem that anyone outran anyone else, the pirates just decided to pick on the boat behind.

I have to say, the MD of PSP sounded mighty brave from the comfort of his office chair!

Interesting assumption, & I wouldn't normally expect a smaller powerboat to go under its own power, but the report does imply that it was part of a convoy rather than on a ship.

To my mind, none of the people in his come out with much consideration for the others involved.

A lot seems odd, was it just the Sunseeker being transported on the boat?
What other craft were they perhaps looking to steal?
Perhaps they just wanted the transport ship itself so they could transport their collection of various nicked craft to a boat show somewhere in the third world.
Not to diminish the very real threat of piracy on the high seas but you cannot help wonder, could it perhaps be a fairy story.........there is often talk of pirates in those!

The sunseeker was on a german ship, cant remember the name right now. It was the only boat on the deck and was on a cradle about midships. Not sure if anything else was going on deck, when we left it was headed to Hamburg before heading to the final destination according to the crew.

The Sunseeker was on a ship called the Beluga Evaluation. MBY have spoken to the ship's owners, who told us the ship was never directly threatened by pirates. They specifically disputed the detail that the ship was at one point surrounded by gun-firing pirates. They also claim there was no on-board security, although PSP say they have proof that this was the case.

The story that is out there was born in a press release issued on behalf of PSP. In endeavouring to fact-check the story, we soon learned there were a number of conflicting accounts of exactly what happened.

What is clear: there were pirates in the area; a number of other ships in the area were attacked. The Evaluation was running with its nav lights and AIS off at the time, and seemed to evade any serious attention from the pirates, at least according to the owners.

The whole "tone " of the article suggests it's just a massive PR-stunt from the part of Sunseeker, or it turned out this way anyhow. Just imagine: you're under attack from pirates :( but "getting in time on the show was our top priority...." What a load of...smalltalk (to say the least)
