Avast me hearties, there be a gathrin called of all you east coast pirates. Come to the pirate fortress kown as Dead Man's Stone Point. Steer past the ravenous Kraken, sail through shark fin bay and drop your barnacle encrusted anchor into the muddy depths.

Carve the date of the 28th in yer mainmast

Bring wood for a fire to warm the heart of the coldest pirate

Bring rum to slake the thirst of the driest corsair

And if ye have the skill, bring fife, fiddle and flugelhorn to lead the dance of the dead till dawn rears her cursed head

And some nice Kath Kidston picnic blankets as one finds one's ice cold chardonay looks so naff just plonked in the sand dontcha know?

Is the pirate gathering still happening? Any more attendees in addition to the above? I've conscripted a glamorous new crew (my sister) so will attend if the weather is good.

We won't leave Bridgemarsh until Sunday morning though and I see HW is around midday on Sunday - How long either side of low water can we get in there?

From memory, the charted depth going into the backwaters is about 1.2m. LW on Sunday at Walton (or Harwich) is 0.4m, so with your draft you could in theory get in even at LW, but it might be a good idea to be a bit more cautious than that.

We usually start from Bridgemarsh at about HW, and get to Pye End at LW, which assumes a reasonable ~5kt average. That's quite late on Sunday, so you may need to punch the tide to get there earlier with more depth (and more time to pirate).

I don't think we'll be able to make it.
Enjoy, everyone

Ali

Can I please get confirmation that the pirate weekend in fact starts on Sunday 28th Aug and not the Saturday? I fear Mr Full Circle may have beem giving me a bum steer as I believed it wad Sunday as per the OP

Sunday the 28th.... Thats the date.

Weather is looking better for Sunday as well...

Well, we're here already or close enough so pre-piratical socials will be available on Saguday probably in Hamford water on Saturday if anyone else is around.

Doug, will you be around on Saturday?

Wunja, need to get priorities sorted :D

Sunday weather looking ok - shud b gud :)

Pirate passage plan help

Not committing to the pirate meet yet, still need to pressgang crew, but could use some advice. Leaving Maylandsea on a rising tide at 10:00 on Sunday and allowing a conservative three kts I calculate about 111/2 hours to make the Backwaters! Seems a very long time. Everyone will have found the treasure and finished all the rum. Have I got the passage time right? I guess it would be better to set off on Saturday but the Pirate Queen might not be to happy about me escaping for two nights:(
