HW is midday approx, so we will aim to commence from midday onwards on Sat 14th.

Anchorage at Stone Point, just inside the Twizzle entrance.

Around midday, please make your presence known to the good ship Morgana (a Beneteau, and we'll be flying a big Jolly Roger), and instructions (for the hearty junior crew - not the scurvy adults) will be provided in a sealed enveloped to avoid more senior pirates prying eyes. It will be sealed with wax, in the mark of the ybw pirate, so be warned yer barnacled grown ups!

At around 13h00, we will commence on a run round the island in tenders and whatever else we can lay our hands on, heading towards Titchmarsh first to get through the shallow bits with a decent amount of tide. Don't be late... it dries! We will hopefully have the good pirate ship Duvel in attendance and will try our hardest to ensure that those that want it get a ride, and that a run round the island in her is available to as many as is safe. Own lifejackets required, plus responsible adults (now we are in trouble!) in attendance in tenders would be much appreciated. Volunteers to help would also be much appreciated, as I may have enough to do ashore, but will join in if I can.

Return to Stone point and meet ashore at 17h00, where the beach games will begin. Please bring whatever games you feel would be fun. We'll have the usual Boule, etc... pirate costume for the youngsters is considered de-rigeur!....

18h00, and the kids will be off on a treasure hunt, looking for pirate grog, booty and a few skirmishes with the natives.... Hope they've kept their instructions safe, as they'll find a treasure map inside....the long lost map of Captain Dew!... adults may want to join in with the younger ones, but the kids will hunt down the treasure as a group, and will be expected to share the bounty fairly!

By 20h00, we aim to have lit the fire, and when you BBQ is up to you, and I guess depends a little upon the age of the kids. Ours will probably be complaining of starvation before then, so may well eat a little earlier. Adults will no doubt be consuming the pirate grog they mysteriously found in the bottom of their tenders!
We'll bring along an ardinary garden Gazebo to offer some shelter to BBq'ers in the event of rain (surely not /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif), perhaps you might like to consider similar plans?

Retirement back to Galleons and Schooners is as appropriate to parents discretion.... but don't be surprised at a late night, weather permitting.

The following morning, we won't awake the fleet with a bugle call, as it might offend non pirates nearby, but hope that many will gather on the beach at 09h00, where we will be re-creating the battle of Skull Cove, with waterpistols as essential equipment (please bring your own!)... and with plans to capture the wicked pirate Captain Dew, and force him back to his boat to walk the plank.... a full fleet of tenders, loaded with mini pirates are expected to witness the spectacle...

Hopefully tired and happy, pirate ships can depart to suit their needs from hereon to fit in the with the HW around 13h00.

See you there!

Can you please confirm below if you are intending to come still, along with mini pirate numbers, and ages... Ta

And also, a reminder to anyone that can, to bring along a handful of firewood

Also, should add, that there will be plenty of opportunity for those that want to, to tender over to W&FYC to take a peek at 'Goblin', or Nancy Blackett, as some insist on calling her /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A fine effort for a lily livered lubber of the mid shires and fair appreciated.

We have the plank, and plenty of firewood, not to mention the charcoaled bones of some old shipmates. We will make sure of plenty grog and victuals for the scurvy crew.

We also have a Gazebo for shelter from the scorching sun.

Are ye needin some treasure from me hoard?

I may also be bringing me yellow peril tender and Seagull, depending on how Duvel is being moved.

Looking forward to it.

I also have the finest Super Soakers. So be afraid.

Would love to come, it sounds like a great weekend, but the Kids are off with Granny on the IOW from Saturday, and I'll be doing the final touches to the boat before selling. I'll have to wait for PW3!

Arrrr, should be meself, SWMBO and two 15yr old piratesses.

I say should be, the tides aren't to good for coming and going from the Crouch that weekend. I don't suppose anyone knows of a mooring I could borrow for a Macwester 26 until the following Friday, do they? (can't afford marina fees)

Well done for all the planning.

Flipper is planning to be there under the command of some ex naval type who has deserted his ship. SWIMBO will be making her annual appearance onboard with a 14 and 8.5 pirate crew. Don't think 16 year old finds pirate life cool enough to come!

Weather permitting will be sailing up from B'sea on Friday and overnighting in Titchmarsh with crew joining on Sat morning.

Got to work on SWIMBO to allow boat to remain at anchor on Sat night otherwise will have to return to Titchmarsh for night.

Would like to come but no crew at the minute.
All got other things to do now /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

May come single handed.
If I do i will bring the hard dinghy for the round island trip as long as the weather is reasonable.
Looking a bit iffy at the moment though. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Been there, got the T shirt.

Kids now 25, 23 and 19 so I can now do what I want to (at age 55!) whilst I am still fit and able to.

Have entered a Skipper 14 (bought cheap on Ebay last week especially for the event) in the round the island race, looking forward to the OGA event. Will be flying the forum flag, probably at the top of the gaff, but maybee the mast, so give us a wave anyone watching.

PS 23 yr old son is a good dinghy sailer so I am now reaping some of the benefits of having older kids! He will be helming, and doing most of the work. I will be waving to onlookers and shouting abuse at fellow competitors, and anyone else who gets in our way.

Well we went away on Vreny this weekend and she behaved pretty well, so if the weather is favourable we might even bring her up. We'll be there blagging a berth regardless of whether our 44 year old girl can make it though!

Duvel's tiller is now repaired, collecting masts from Dave's tonight, and plan to bring stuff to make any final adjustments to mast step. Might even manage to strenthen the thwart.

See you at the weekend.

Bit of additional info...

The Old Gaffers Association, Swallows and Amazons weekend is on at the same time....

We've been in contact, and plans are as follows:

The OGA are taking their traditional dinghies (and if last year is anything to go by, there will be a decent quantity) around the island anticlockwise, leaving 1.5hrs before HW on Saturday... so if we go clockwise as is the plan to cross the Wade with a decent amount of water, and leave as detailed above, we should pass them in Hamford Water somewhere.... plenty of waving will be compulsory... the dinghies really are a treat to see anyway....

Saturday evening the OGA event will be tide bound in W&FYC, so we'll be doing our own thing, as detailed above, and then Sunday morning again as above, we'll have our water pistol duel... the OGA dinghies are sailing down to Stone Point early, and will fly kites on the beach with a pirate theme, and join in the water pistol activities... and then assist in ensuring that the evil pirate captain makes a big splash as he is forced off his plank!

We can then, if anyone wants to, head back via tenders to W&FYC, and as long as we get there by about 11h00, we can take a look at 'Goblin/Nancy Blackett'... we can't be any later, as they'll want to be leaving on the HW....

Looking forward to it enormously.... a hint in the forecast.... just a hint mind you, of decent weather again..../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't forget.... Pirate costumes are required for mini pirates, and highly suggested for older, grog swilling pirates... certainly at least 2 of the boats have fully dressed crews, old and young, along with large Jolly Rogers!

Hope you all have a great weekend!! Really sorry we can't be there (not as sorry as my young son, of course).
I'll raise a glass, probably some yummy black stuff, to the pirate weekend from the compulsory family function in Ireland.

Cheers

Ey ar me hearties, we is preparin' for a wild weekend. The good ship Ty Dewi 'as been a boarded by a group of shipless pirates intent on plunder and mis'behavin.

And so our crew be now 4 big'uns and 5 mini pirates, of the ages of 3,4,5,8 and 10. A second tender will be brought with us but perhaps a pirate or two might board another vessel for the circumnavigation

We bring grog, grub, firewood and charcoal a plenty. Now all we a'searching for is a jolly roger to fly from the crosstrees.
