Pipe/tube sizes SCH40? Stainless//alloy suppliers. Wind Genny mount.

I'm trying to locate a supplier of stainless or alloy tube to mount my windgenerator on.

Recommended size is 48mm and SCH 40, which I assume is the tube wall size , and if that is correct, what thickness does that make the wall size..?

So far the best I have found is 6mtr 316 ss at GBP 131:00 (satin)

or 6mtr of 304 ss at GBP67:00 (bright polished)

or 5 mtr alloy with 1/4 inch wall at GBP 60:50

The s/steel is 2.5 mm wall.

Can anyone help with suppliers ...Also I actually only need about 3mtrs so will have 3 mts of waste for the stainless (or 2 mtrs with the alloy)

your 48mm outside dia is probably a nominal 1-1/2", which has a wall thickness of 3.7mm..

I am also looking for some tube for the same purpose.15/8 bore is a odd size.your price is more expensive than rutland mounting kit mailspeed price for the 913 99.99pounds.I have looked at several stock holders and none list any with a 15/8 bore.

tube like sch 40 are nominal bore the od being the exact size
sch 40 bore is 1.61 for the rutland 913 15/8 1.625 this is too small sch 10 would do

48mm tube seems very close to a standard scaffolding pole size and this is what some wind generators are designed to fit.

If you only want about 3m then a trip to a local building site and the offer of a few beer tokens will probably bring forth a nice piece of aluminium scaffold pole that will do exactly what you want.

I recently made a fairly substantial support frame for our Eclectic D400 wind gen using ally scaffold tube and ally tube fittings, the whole thing was powder coated white and looks very good, is also very strong but not too heavy.

have a piece of shd 40 s/s that i bought for this purpose, about 3 mtrs, it really needs to be picked up from llangollen, 25 beer tokens please!
