Pilot Gas Alarm??!!

Gave up on Pilot ages ago. Shockingly bad product especially when you consider the price.

Search for Trio gas alarm - cheap as chips on eBay and work very well. Now into 5th year.

Absolutely. But nothing to stop us from keeping things simple. Go outside and turn the gas of manually after each cooking session. Do away with electrics and use charts and a hand held GPS. Manually haul the anchor rode, row the dingy instead of outboard and the list goes on.

That's an odd response. Just because things are modernised, shouldn't mean we have to accept shoddy goods. The responses to this this thread alone endorse the fact the Pilot unit is far from what it should be. Like most in the maritime field, I don't mind paying more for quality. I do however, resent being conned into believing something is quality, when in fact, it's poorly constructed and built the cheapest parts in order only to maximise profits. The longer we accept these kind of goods, the more they will flood the market. Just my opinion.

I can't agree more with you. I was merely expanding the topic that with boats, sometimes we need to go back to basics because of the facts you state, stuff just isn't made the same these days.

We have canaries that we take on board each time we go down to the boat. If they don’t fall off their perch burner goes on for a cuppa.
Alternatively I bit the bullet and bought another sensor at a mind-blowing 28 smackeroos. Fitted in about 1 minute and now working fine as it should.
I now have 2 canaries surplus to requirement and for sale on E-bay
