I remember seeing Carlotta here in Barbados after she crossed the Atlantic in about 1976 / 77 or thereabouts (long time ago) - and I know I have a photo of her from then, will try and find it.
Thanks for all the praise everyone. Glad you all enjoy the website - keep checking back for the latest update pics.
And thanks again for the photo Martin.
I was in Gloucester in September and had the priviledge of meeting Tommi Nielsen at his shop - while Olga wasn't there, I did get a very good look at Cornubia -ex-Hirta coming close to the end of her rebuild at his yard.
It was very inspiring.

It was a pretty dire photo that I took in the mid '70's, armed with a 110 instamatic camera (remember those) - here is another bash at that photo :
It was only after I had scanned it and 'blown it up' that I realised there was a Canadian flag flying at the masthead, and that there is a chap (the then Owner) leaning on the main boom, peering at something ashore with his binoccies.
BTW, I am pretty sure that the sailing yacht (a gaff (?) cutter) to the left of Carlotta's bowsprit is Theodora R - do any forumites recognise or remember her?
Changing tack, that photo of Cornubia is ace! I hope that we will see more photos of her on here in her fully restored glory.
Robina Fisk is looking as lovely as ever, perhaps better with her brighter hull - am sure she used to have a dark blue hull in her early days?
I remember an article in YM by Tom Cunliffe from about 15 or 16 years ago about pilot cutters, and mention was made then of Robina with photos - one serious sea boat for sure.
Same reputation as the older sailing pilot cutters.
Thank you also for posting those fine photos of Peggy and the cutter with the squaresail.
re the Robina Fisk, she was built in 1988 by "Dockstavaret "in Sweden with an aluminium hull / superstructure and MANdiesel engines. She is still in service .
In 1991 the Bristol Ports of Avonmouth and Portbury were taken over by a private company from the City Council.
Robina Fisk was painted Orange some time later in line with the companies other vessels. (She was previously black)
