Im planning a delivery trip in May from US Virgin Islands to Rhode Island via Bermuda but having trouble finding a suitable pilot book for the NE Coast of USA - I would like to check out New York and the Hudson river before venturing to my final destination in Jamestown - does anyone have recommendations ?

Thanks

The traditional source of information to the coast have been the ‘Waterway Guides’. Their focus is primarily for boats running the ICW, but as that runs from Texas to the Cape Cod Canal, it covers all the coast, the entrances in and out to the open sea, anchorages and other facilities.

I’ve only used the printed guides (Ship Store | Waterway Guide ) but it seems there’s all sorts of online and app based versions these days.

Wow, it's actually quite impressive how challenging this is to google.

Maptech / Embassy do a series of three books, New England Coast (Eastport, Maine to Block Island, RI.), Long Island Sound to Cape, May New Jersey and Chesapeake Bay to Florida & the ICW but there are some quiet angry reviews on Amazon about the quality of them (the New England one specifically).

I have a Reeds Nautical Almanac which I was pleased to acquire from the boatyard library when I saw that it covered the US east coast, but Gogole suggests they've not published it since c 2008.

I'd post this on CruisersForum if @Motor_Sailor's suggestion proves unsatisfying.

Thanks for that - I agree Google doesn't come with much and the best I can find is the Maptech Long Island sound - which as you say doesn't have very positive reviews - Ill try the Cruisers forum or maybe wait until Im in the Caribbean or Virgin Islands
