I think I may spend the rest of my life washing up, cooking dinner, vaccumming and doing all manner of "nice things"..

For a while I've been contemplating this issue with "interesting" handling charecteristics of my Loftus. whilst contemplating this, I've also been helping my mate with his boat, we often try to go fishing together, and normally only take one of the boats... but lately we've both been experiencing longevity problems with the prehistoric power units we jokingly call engines.

so...

with the idea, based on some available cash, that we should buy one decent one, maybe spend a little too much on a boat for fishing and breaking all of my "old boats are better" rule, I started looking around interweb thing to see what sort of boat "she" liked... the outcome? ... somewhat inconclusive, you see, I don't like spending money on "looks" Mrs A on the other hand likes to looks of boats that have a considerable price tag, so I started looking towards the Bayliner end of the spectrum... nice looking, not badly priced, choice of engines, but to be honest I'm not the smallest bloke in the world and that's not likely to change much. Also complicating my planning was a constant reminder that my old boat "only needs an engine" and "it doesn't have to be a big one like the last one" and "why don't you just do the old boat" etc...

The one concern I had throughout was that Mrs Aztec, had expressed some concern about the numerous boats that were berthed in various locations.. actually quite strongly!! and to increase said number was possibly putting myself not only in a finacial quandry, but also impacting on the potential for some bruises and general abrasions occasioned by the aforementioned Mrs A.

Bravery although not my greatest strength was taken from it's sealed container and dusted off when i found a boat not too far away from me being offered as a "dunno what it is, or if it floats, or if it's any good" type thing.. always liked a challenge so after identifying it with the help of this forum, and some checking of general price trends of these and simmilar boats.. my plan took shape... a few deals later and we hadPicton fiesta four as replacement for the old "fleet".

This is the "what now skipper?" bit.... how do I break the news to Mrs A that against all the advice etc, I'd only gone a bought another!... what would you have done?

'Masochist' springs to mind. Is that what you meant by

?

Strategically you could have been wiser, me thinks

Ok I've given this some thought and here's what you do....you go and select the finest piece of jewellery you can find (I urge you to take advice on this if you're rubbish at jewellery), purchase some tasteful scatter cushions, place them on said boat with said fine jewellery placed pride of place on your new acquisition and present to your wife along with a beautifully written poem, two flutes and a bottle of THE best champers. She may still hate the boat but will LOVE your sentimentality.

never mind all that stuff, just book your own funeral !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, very close!

Mrs A has a jewelery sales business.. so if i was to buy jewelery, i'd probably ask her advice.

As it turned out, although she doesn't go for motor boats per se, (she's a raggie), I took her to see the boat last sunday following a conversation about matresses.. none of my worries, or the requirement to take a first aid kit materialised.. she loved the boat!

I'd even go as far as saying i scored maximum brownie points... saving myself in the process the cost of jewelwery, champagne and of course scatter cusions, although i think that they may make an appearance before too long!

Happy days!

no, been a raggie too long.

no chance of changing now, but moving into the light rather than spending numerous hours going nowhere may enlighten her... as long as i but the fuel and she doesn't see the receipts!

should look better in a week or two..

new hood, cover, stainless handrails, retrimmed interior an a bit of gelcoat work and final polish.
