just thought i would post some pic's of the boat.
nearly completed after more than 2yrs and thousand's of pounds later,it's about 80% through the job! and getting close to just the finishing touches.

the boat is a 1972 moonraker 36(350)softrider.
hull number 100 one of the last built by bell and buxton before jcl took over.

both the interior and exterior have had a full refurb!

thank's alot for the comments...it's been a labour of love for a long time now.the boat was taken out of the water over 7yrs ago by previous owner for the engines to be removed and reconditioned which they were.it never went back into the water.the engines were in storage for over 7yrs.
it took over 7weeks to prep the boat for a full respray(had already been painted with blakes single pack before i got it).sprayed with jotun's jotomastic first with an airless sray gun(over 2500p.s.i)it goes on like artex's and set's like concrete,had to sand smooth with 60grit!!nothing else would touch it! then with jotun's primer and hardtop- as.two pack paint's.
it was then wet-dryed sandered and polished with cutting compound's and buffer.
all electric's(12v 24v and 240v), plumbing and mechanicals are new.
new prop's.prop shafts and bushes.
toilets x2 ,sink tap's .water pumps demestic and bilege all replaced.
all cuboard hinges and handles!!
basicaly just got the caparts curtains and upholstery to do!!and we will be nearly their.
and theeeennnnn i have to sell her!!!!

I do hope you are joking! What a shame that would be to have had all the hard work and so little enjoyment. Looks like you have done a really good job of it too, gives me a boost in the enthusiasm department as I am also in the process of a major refurb. Well it started out as a refurb but has turned into a rebuild! 1970 (ish) Dutch Steel TSDY.
A good looking boat you have there, do get some enjoyment from her before you do sell her, it would be a wicked shame not to.

yep i'm afraid so sultans kapitein.
the boat was bought as an project/investment .
but!! i'm in no rush to sell ..i'll use the boat as much as possible until the buyer at the right price come's along.
if no buyer turn's up . may take it to warmer climate's to use.
hope your own refurb goes well it can be dishartening at time's!!
if you need to paint the outside of the boat can recommend the jotun's system,it will go on steel very well especially the jotomastic very very thick primer... just a bugger to sand,but gives a perfectly smooth finish!!! best of look with the boat...

Prices are all over at the moment, and it seems Moonrakers are a collectors item so you have to find the right buyer.
I've brought mine from Lowestoft down to the Thames and I figure with a recent full survey and a current safety certificate she will already have gone up 5 grand just from the location. But only for someone who wants her.

When I look at the photos Sea Tigress appears to me to be riding low in the water at the front. It might be worth looking to see if all heavy items are moved towards the back of the boat. When we cleared the cupboards out on ours we found a large bag of sand as "balast?!" under the cooker! This riding low effect is why I don't want to put the battery box for the windlass right up front. Decisions decisions!

How did you get the engines back in, had the cabin roof already been removed?

Great boat, I can remember them as a kid on the Fossdyke at Lincoln, they must have been new then, some had a yellow/mustard colour hull.

One of the first major engine overhauls I did was in a moonraker, one of the last ones built it had 220hp perkins uprights in, I managed to remove the sumps and fit new pistons and liners to both engines whilst still in the boat, it was a JCL marine one so had some nice touches to it.

Some years later it sank, it now at Holme lock on the trent at nottingham.
 
thanks paul didnt realise you were from lincoln.thats were i started when i was a lad up and down the fossdyke.
best think about moonrakers generally plenty of room to work on the engine's if the need arise's
 
their is a hatch in the roof that you can remove once you have found it!
the boat looks alittle nose heavy as it as got full water+diesel tank's at the time.
cuboards are empty as the boat is still being restored.
just done the carpets and uphosteiry so nearly their.
new roof lining going in to the wheel house.
 
does the river witham count as "im not from lincoln but my parents boated there"
they had a holiday cottage next to the river for several years
