Photos of Boat show courtesy of GC1

I can but the forum won't allow the words. Go on then?

I've just answered the question. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well I was there yesterday and took these pics. It's not as busy as other years without a doubt, but those GC1 pics do not really show it as it is.

And if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me!

To be fair, my photos were somewhat selective also. I just wanted to show that there are people visiting the show so I took some pics of the busier bits. The truth is somewhere in between /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When you study the photos there are a lot of empty seats.

The last time I went to a show if two sat at a table for four , you were swiftly joined by another couple desperate for a seat.

If three sat at a table for four then the extra chair was taken away to another table.

I did state in the post that it didn't seem as busy as other years. The reason for posting them was really as a way of showing that GC1's pics were not typical of the show.

Your photo is not typical , I did spot the trap and tried to keep quiet all weekend but...............

The photo does not show your typical UK waters boater looking at boats or accessories does it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That looks to me like a clothes stall selling T-Shirts .

Errrmmm....has GC1 got you on a retainer as some sort of poorman's Max Clifford? If so, seems you're working hard for your money /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Statement from GC1

All Pete wanted to do was share his boat show experience as someone on this forum asked for photos.

I think it has been a bit unfair on Pete.

A few
Thanks for posting the photos Pete and hope you are well would have been nice and shown the forum in a much better light in my opinion.

I feel it only fair to ask GC1 for a statement, after all he took the photos and he was there !

I dont want to break forum rules, can anyone see any harm in posting GC1's response ?
Or can I give him my password for an hour, if he behaves as I am confident he will perhaps he can be invited back ?

If that is truly "all he wanted to do", it would be a first. You are acting as his proxy, either intentionally or naiively.

He has been banned. If you allow him to use your profile to post, you should (IMO) be banned.

Re: Statement from GC1

OK, since the GC1 debate has arisen again, here's my take on it. Firstly, there's no harm in posting stuff on hs behalf. Secondly, it would be a bad mistake to let anyone post under your profile, it could easily land you in hot water. I get a lot of worried queries about security and cannot urge you strongly enough not to share your personal details with others.

Finally, GC1 was banned when Keith was in charge. Since I took over I have reason to believe he's tried to come back under different usernames. If he had contacted me about his ban and possible reinstatement then I would have been happy to talk but this has not happened so I see no reason to consider letting him back on.

Response from GC1

Thanks for responding Dan /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry for delay in my response, GC1 is not the easiest person to contact.

His reply was

The photos were not sent to cause a wind up.
The photos were sent as someone on the mobo forum had commented there were very few photos of the boat show.
He thought the photos were a fair reflection of what he saw.
He didn't wait until the stands cleared to take the photos and anyone who looked at the web cams could see the show was not full.

The photos were not taken at close of business, he couldn't remember the exact time but that had already been checked and noted above in this thread anyway.

..............................................................................................

I appreciate GC1 going to the trouble to send the photos and I feel embarrassed at the suspicion this forum has thrown Pete's way /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Sorry it turned out that way Pete, but thanks for sending me the photos to post. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

At least Dan has agreed to enter negotiations about conditions of your return , I sincerely hope you take him up on his offer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Statement from GC1

Why not let him back on for a month and then ask us all to vote on his continuation.

It would certainly make the forum a more interesting place, for a while at least. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Statement from GC1

Removing the hose from a seacock, then opening it, would make any boat trip more interesting, for a while at least.

Re: Statement from GC1

How can posting images of a Boat show possibly offend any sane person?

Sheesh.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Statement from GC1

But I included GC1 in the tittle so all the bigots had no need to even look !

Re open seacock

Interesting question

As far as I can tell what happens when you remove a hose while underway is the suction will not allow water ingress.

In fact removing the hose from an open seacock while underway makes a fine bilge pump.

If the seacock has a scoop fitting you would need to loosen the fitting and turn it 180 degrees first. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
