opens at 10 most folk are in the boulevard from 0930 then filter through SLOWLY only at about 11 it starts to get busy in the main halls.

Remember this show is not all about the public there is an awful lot of business done between suppliers, manufacturers etc in fact there is a huge buyers / suppliers delegation in the show over the next three days.

And before anyone picks me up about the not just for the public comment they are of corse the main reason we are here!

Finally before I count all of yesterdays hard earned takings if anyone would like to come to the IPC stand and discuss the show and any show for that matter then please do I may even dig out a beer for those that do!
 
Is that invitation an open invitation to include GC1 ?

Would you welcome him to join you for a beer to discuss conditions for him returning to the forum ?

He clearly still shows an interest and has a lot to offer . /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hmm sterling stuff you holding the line for the entire industry Richard but pretty nieve to belive that there will be BIG B2B going on if there is no visability of sales to the end punter. Sure there might be lots of meetings but i bet the conversations are going along the lines of 'we have scaled back our forward purchasing plans and you need to be holding stocks so we can respond to sales as they come in' etc etc

Previous years must have been pretty dire in that case.

I don't think any amount of bull**** from the organisers of the show will convince me of the success of this one!

Interestingly enough, a couple of months ago I read in the trade press the chairmans denial of any special deals, discounts etc being offered to get the exhibitor numbers up, and yet I know of 1 exhibitor that has been given a free stand! Not a small pokey one in a corner either, he has several boats on it!!!

Now why would they give away a "free" stand when everyone else has had to pay for theirs? Sounds like someone's been telling porkies.
 
Name and shame there is not ANYBODY in here with a free stand there maybe feature areas but that is different, everyone exhibiting in this show has had to pay (the going rate) for their stand. You get a discount if you are a BMF member but thats it.

Sorry I am being nieve again....

What would be nice is to folk to visit the stand and have a conversation with me rather than living their life through a web cam!

So I am here and the beer is cold, what are you waiting for!
 
What's with the big steps and reception at the Fairline stand? Is it Hotel Fairline or something?

Pft, if I go to a boatshow I want to see boats, plain and simple, not a bloody entrance lobby leading to boats

Or was it another ploy to intimidate? Are the Fairlines boats behind the reception or where???

Richard didn't say if their Daily Target was more or less than previous years, and I think in the current market most peoples sales targets will probably be less than previous years.

How times change, I used to do EC and Southampton in the 1980's / 1990's, and there was one golden rule

You do not try selling anthing to the production builders during the EC boat show, it was a boat selling show.

Any new equipment was in for the year, and no changes would take place until next year, Southampton used to be the show to make new contacts, and arrange to see people after.

Just looked the web cams again, still not many people.

It does worry me, it's my living after all.

Just got off the phone to a couple of exhibitors, and they reckon it is the quietest they've ever been. "Much worse than when they put vat to 25% for boats all those years ago" says one of em.
