Photographic attempt in Solent today

How about just getting it all properly organised?

There are plenty of people who will do it properly and the time and cost of abortive attempts renders them pointless and expensive.

Many apologies for not seeing you - I was running later than expected and was responsible for running a rally for our club, so whilst enjoying a decent sailing breeze for a change, was hurrying along a bit.

Great Pic, though!

Cheers

It is now 3pm, we have only just tied up and the sky seems to be lightening, so maybe I have missed the best of the day. I am sure somebody will let me know /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

we were only just leaving the mooring, and you were back at base ! sorry we missed you - family matters which cause delays to sailing are always the most irritating !

Re: Photographic attempt in Solent today -Nab Tower leaning?

I saw the Red Arros too but what was the event ?

Was ther some sort of air race or pageant as there were lots of planes (vintage) flying round the Solent on Saturday.

Not the Solent but I am pleased with this one I took yesterday. Any guesses where?

Re: Photographic attempt in Solent today -Nab Tower leaning?

The Red Arrows were putting on a display for White Air at Yaverland/Sandown (at 2pm last Saturday). They flew over the Solent earlier - I guess they were on their way to an airport somewhere. I got some photos of the display from just around the corner from Whitecliff bay - a truly stunning display and they were turning right over us...

We also saw lots of oldish aircraft - I guessed it was to do with the Goodwood Revival weekend.

I was pottering around the Solent this weekend. Did Ichen, Hamble, Port Solent, overnight in Gosport Marina, and back to Ichen on Sunday. Saw the arrows and Waverly and spent Sunday afternoon replacing the clutches on my boat. I have previously uploaded somthing like 100 pictures to Shmoos site, but none this time. I'm planning to do Southampton to Pool and back next weekend perhaps stopping off at Yarmouth or Lymington on route and I'll definately have my camera with me.

How about a list of boat names/sail numbers/approx sailing location on the end of this thread for people who will be on the water this coming weekend?

Goodwood Revival

Vintage aircraft were indeed heading towards the Goodwood Revival, which takes place just north of Chichester. There were Spitfires, Hurricanes and all manner of other 'period' planes flying over the site all weekend, along with a large assortment of private helicopters and planes. Also a static display of various vintage planes, which looked as though they had been flown in.

Not quite as visceral as the Red Arrows, but there's something about seeing a Spitfire show off low overhead...
