Photobucket...am I doing something wrong?

I know that Photobucket comes in for a lot of criticism here, doubtless deserved. It is painfully slow and not one of my video uploads can be played. The free service is festooned with the lousiest, most repellent advertising, and doubtless they invite awful advertisers in order to encourage use of the 'superior', ad-free service instead.

My question here is a little different. Whenever I want to upload another photo, or review my library of pics, I get the following pop-up (which needs completing before I can move on)...

...now, according to the pop-up, having supplied the correct email address, it will be established as the email attached to this account, and thus I oughtn't to need to repeat the procedure...

...but whatever I do and wherever I go in the system, the same pop-up continues to pop up ad nauseum, as if I'd never seen it before. I don't mean on each new time I visit the website - I mean on each step I take whilst using the website. It's like the system constantly forgets that I've provided what it requested, 60 seconds earlier.

Does anybody else have this problem? Is there a simple way to make Photobucket recognise that I am still who I've always been, (I have never changed my email address) and that they needn't keep checking? Or is this another irritation, deliberately written into the system, that can be avoided by selecting the paid version of the service?

I stopped using P'bucket when they suddenly blocked every thing and wanted loadsa gold bars to continue with it.

I now mostly use Tinypic, which ironically is a P' bucket subsidiary, down loading pics I have on P'bucket and uplaoding them to Tinypic as I need them.

I use the "attachment" method sometimes too

Thanks gents, I may go with one of those. :encouragement:

Of course, subsequent to starting this thread, I realised what I was doing wrong and set it straight...

...after each time I typed my email address as required, Photobucket sent me a confirmation email which I suppose needed opening...

...but every single one of their emails (many hundreds) had gone straight to my unseen 'junk' file.

Ah yes, that's probably the bit where they say that "a confirmation link will be sent to your email address". ;)

....still using it with no problems and certainly no return email stuff. everytime log on, it always invites me to pay for the service, merely press the back key and hey presto allows me to post pixs as usual for free.

Sorry, don’t know the answer but if you just want to use it to post images on here I would suggest using Postimage which is free, simple and reliable.

Thanks for the tip.
I tried to use Postimage, but the procedure defeated me (unsurprising!!)
Any tips for those of us who think this may be the way to go, please?

I stopped using Photobucket for reasons that are largely similar to those mentioned by VicS. Someone on this forum suggested "Imgur" and, so far, I am very satisfied with it. Fortunately for me I still had copies of those pics that were blocked by PB; it is very good practice to keep copies in different locations as some pics might be impossible to replace.

You can still down load pictures you have stored on P'Bucket . As I mentioned earlier that is what I have been doing before uploading then to another Photohosting site.

Hmm, that's generally been my experience since I began this thread a couple of months ago...but now there's another obstacle...

...each time I've ever uploaded a photo, after a few seconds the image appeared in a small 'tile' low down on the upload page. I always clicked the tile, and that action seemed to embed the photo in my library...

...except now, after inviting me to upload, and after letting me select a photo from my PC, the action required in order to complete the process, is wholly obscured by the hideous advertising plastered across the bottom half of the page.

The first thing I encounter on opening Photobucket, is various costs for optional levels of 'superior' service from the company...

...and the message says that by paying, I can get the existing service without adverts. But now, the adverts are so obstructive, the service I have always received hitherto, is blocked. Plainly these aren't adverts at all, just a veil over the site's functions.

Do the pirates at Photobucket expect me to pay, rather than just find another provider of this service?

They must be dumber than they think I am.

I'm a Flickr user which now limits you to 1,000 pictures to one email account. I have several email accounts. :D

Is Flickr as easy to use as Photobucket was, before they stopped making their users welcome?

I'm not incapable of learning new instructions and procedures but I'd prefer a basic service that just provides a postable link for including images here, rather than a range of clever options I didn't need or ask for.

Free image hosting seems to be getting more and more difficult. I can't see lots of images that others post both here and on other fora. A new one I am getting later is something along the lines of "cannot display image as there have been too many redirects' whatever that means.

Yes, this seems to be a recurring problem. I have been using Postimage for some time but last week prv was unable to see a pic I posted on another thread. However, somebody also contacted me as they were unable to see some photos on my website using either a PC or an iPad, whereas his father could see them perfectly well. This is not free imaging as I pay for hosting. That one may be something to do with his provider?

Does anybody know the instructions, in simple terms, for getting a URL link for images that are stored in Google Photos?

I've had the application on my phone for ages so I can believe it's possible to get links for photos, which this forum can display...

...but there's nothing obvious within the application, no directions. Just a lot of options to apply sepia tint or share via mobile.

Similarly, most of the other sites which claim to offer the service, seem to be primarily packed with other features I don't want...

...an internet search of free alternatives to Photobucket suggested something called "vgy", but their links don't end with 'jpeg' or 'png'...

...and Imgur didn't produce any image at all in this post when I tried it this evening, just an empty space.

I can't work out if it's technically difficult, or why the providers are reluctant to make it as easy as it used to be on Photobucket.

Google Photos seems to be the biggest player in the business, but there's no instruction anywhere, on how to get a link from them.

Was still posting and downloading with no problem until very recently using favorites .Then logged in using different method and blimming thing then refused to play any more .
Now uploading to different free image hosting site.Loads around.

Loads, I agree...but which, have you chosen?

Some are similarly choked with advertising, some appear primarily to be for kids to chat about cats, and some (almost all I've looked at) are just unclear. Photobucket is a dirty word now, but their site was at least easy to navigate and didn't try to do anything else.
