I’ve never got over the difference in price between clear and smoked acrylic/polycarbonate. For a 10mm thick square piece of smoked acrylic for my 23ft boat I was quoted £200.

Shouldn't be, at material level, smoked is only marginally more expensive (approx 5%).

I've always found that a jack plane fitted with a nice sharp blade produces a very professional square or mitred edge finish. No need for filing. sanding.......
