perspex cleaning

acquired a second hand wheelhouse with fair perspex windows (very little stress cracking) but ithe windows have a gritty surface texture apart from a few minor scratches - what does the team think is best for general cleaning of the perspex and how best to rub out the scratches, without making it worse!

I'd suggest using a progression with modest cutting to remove scratches followed by fine polishing and finally an optical coating.

It's important not to allow the plastic to overheat, so if you are using a rotary power tool, use a slow speed and/or small diameter disk.

This is also applies to flexible vinyl windows, except the requirement is more critical because they are more easily damaged and tend to loose plasticisers.

I think in your situation I would look into proper acrylic polishes. They might cost a bit more but it would be worth it rather than risk wrecking the windows by using unsuitable compounds.
You would not be pleased if you discovered a solvent in something you used caused a load more cracking.

John, I looked at your website, but I don't see a mention of polycarbonate windows. Do they need a different treatment?

The system will work equally well on polycarbonate windows.
